A RESOLUTION recognizing February 18, 2014, as "Scouts Day at the Capitol" and honoring Boy Scouts Sayre Turner, Nick Oliver, Nathan Vick, and Scouts from all over Kentucky.
WHEREAS, the Boy Scouts of America was incorporated on February 8, 1910, under the laws of the District of Columbia by W.D. Boyce. Since its inception, over 110 million young Americans have been members of this great organization; and
WHEREAS, the Boy Scouts of America believes that helping young people is a key to building a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society; and
WHEREAS, February 18, 2014, is "Scouts Day at the Capitol." In this celebration of the vital history of the Boy Scouts Kentucky, this honorable body hereby honors all of Kentucky's Scout leaders, its myriad volunteers, and all the Scouts who make the organization a strong and vital force in the lives of so many of our young people; and
WHEREAS, this body also honors three special scouts today: Sayre Turner, Nick Oliver, and Nathan Vick. These three young men embody the mission of the Boy Scouts of America, and on Scouts Day at the Capitol they are rightfully commended for their selfless sacrifice to others, their humility before their Creator, and their strong work ethic to become models to their peers;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:
âSection 1. The Senate recognizes February 18, 2014, as Scouts Day at the Capitol, and acknowledges the diligence of all the volunteers, support staff, and leaders who provide guidance for the fine young men who will grow up to themselves be leaders of this Commonwealth.
âSection 2. The Senate honors Boy Scouts Sayre Turner, Nick Oliver, Nathan Vick, and Scouts from all over Kentucky.
âSection 3. When the Senate adjourns on this day, it does so in honor of Sayre Turner, Nick Oliver, Nathan Vick, and Scouts from across Kentucky.
âSection 4. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Senator Johnny Ray Turner for delivery.
