ORANGE COUNTY KOPS SOCIETY
Please support your local KOPS Societies. There are two vibrant and exciting groups in south Los Angeles and Orange Counties. For information contact Mark Kearney or Barb Vargas.
WALKING TO RENO
The President of TOPS has challenged us to walk from the site of last year’s IRD to Reno NV, the site of the 2015 IRD. That’s a total of 1953 miles. How is your chapter doing?
Please report your miles walked to Margie Fisher each month and remember that ½ hour of moderate exercise equals 1 mile.
THE NEW YEAR IS UNDER WAY!
The New Year is here and we want to remember some suggestions that Margie made last month?
1 Take a look at your health and see if any changes need to take place.
2 Schedule those annual checkups.
3 Do what you can to reduce stress in your life
4 Evaluate your food plan for any possible changes
5 Take some time every day for yourself.
HAVE A HEART
Make a poster with a heart in large outline. Each member's name
is entered on it with a line for stickers (purchased in advanced).
Heart stickers are awarded to each member for:
(1) Staying for the entire meeting.
(2) Contacting another member,
(3) Losing 1/4 lb or more.
KOPS rules can be adapted here, also.
The winner will receive something with a heart on it or a heart
basket filled with prizes with hearts on them.
Happy Valentines
From: Babshart1
I've made a poster out of pink paper. I've cut out white doilies in
the shape of hearts. We will all get to put our names on a white doily heart and for each contest requirement each member will get a valentine like sticker for her heart. Then the one with the most stickers on Feb. 15 will get a prize. The requirements are as follows:
1. TOPS: lose any weight, KOPS: be in leeway (healthy weight = healthy heart).
2. Make contact with a member during the week by telephone, person, e-mail or snail mail (friendship = healthy heart).
3. Be prepared to share/discuss one thing we can do to help our hearts be healthy (education = healthy heart).
4. Do one thing for your heart this week, that you don't normally do (healthy changes = healthy heart).
Show Your LoveContest
Fill a large heart with 25 small hearts.
A member can earn up to 5 hearts per week by doing the following:
- Stay for meeting - 1 heart
- Contact a TOPS pal - 1 heart
- Complete a food chart - 1 heart
- Exercise at least 30 minutes 3 times per week - 1 heart
- TOPS - weight loss - 1 heart
- KOPS - at or below goal - 1 heart
The first member to fill in all their hearts wins.
