The Boost Story

Janine accompanied her husband Jeff Allis to the USA in 1998 when he was going to a radio conference in Los Angeles. While there, Janine researched the juice and smoothie market and saw a hole in the Australian market for a healthy fast food alternative.

“As a consumer I always struggled to find anything healthy to eat and drink when I was short of time, particularly to find something healthy for my boys,” Janine said. “Then I saw the juice and smoothie concept in the States, and decided to introduce the concept to the Australian market. I did not like how they marketed the US concept, so Boost is nothing like the US model”. Janine and Jeff developed a business plan and raised $250,000 through friends investing in the concept to get the plan underway.

Janine opened her first Boost Juice Bar in Adelaide in May 2000. She was living in Melbourne and ran the store by regularly visiting Adelaidewhile working on the business fromMelbourne. This helped the business to grow as she was not caught up in the day to day running of the store; instead she focused on growth, systems and processes. Jeff was across the leasing, and had the courage to commit to a 20 site deal with Westfield and other shopping centre giants.

Boost Juice is now thelargest and fastestgrowing juice bar company in the Southern Hemisphere.

Janine admits that she never imagined she would be leading a multi million dollar empire, overseeing 650 staff, and achieving staggering revenue of over $70 million per year in sales, with plans to expand into the world market over the next few years.
