St. James UMC Youth Ministry
Auction Credit Protocol 2018
To all youth and parents,
In consideration of creating incentive and fairness for how auction credits can be acquired and then fairly distributed, the youth ministry will set forth the following protocols for earning credit and monetizing those credits. (Became Effective January 2017)
Minimum: To qualify for any Auction funding you must accrue at least 5 credits.
Bottom Line: Auction Credits will now have a designated monetary value based on the amount of
moneyraised in the annual auction, meaning for each auction credit met, a student
will receivea specific amount of money for each of those credits.
Example- 1 Credit may equal $20. 5 credits = $100 as the value of their credits.
This is merely an example and is not to be considered the actual amount.
The actual amount may be lower per credit or higher per credit depending
on how much money is raised. Once expenses and designated funds are separated from the
total the youth receives, apart from the children’s ministry’s take, we will be able to determine
what the per credit amount will be.
Group opportunitiesfor auction credits:4 total credits available
- For 1 Credit: First annual opportunity each year will be the Young at Heart Christmas banquet, held in December.
- For 2 Credits: Auction Round Ups- students come to the church on designated Saturdays to go out into the community and solicit items for the auction. This is in teams and all items are considered apart of the collective. 9:30am to 12pm. For each round up a student earns 1 auction credit. There will be 3 opportunities, but students can only count 2 as credits.
- For 1 Credit: Students may work the auction itself. They will have to serve the whole evening from 4:30pm- 8:30pm as greeters, table monitors, and helping load out items, furniture, and then cleaning up.
Personal opportunities for auction credits:
- Those participating in the Senior High overseas mission trip will need to earn a minimum of 10 auction credits due to the value of what they receive.
- For every item or items brought in that have a retail market value of $50 and up, a student may earn 1 auction credit, and up to 2 credits total at this level.
- For every item or items brought in that have a retail market value of $100 and up, a student may earn an additional 1 auction credit for this level. They may earn as many as they like at this level.
What can Auction credits be used for?
Parents you and your teen(s) may use your earned auction credits for any youth ministry sponsored trip or event. Parents may also help in the acquisition of auction items as credits for their child. Access to items will be limited to first come, first serve in the community, so begin now. Once a location has donated items we will place them on the donors list on line and they will no longer need to be contacted.
Process for Donations:
- Pick up Donation Forms from Melissa Dishmon the youth Administrative assistant in her office or from the Youth Staff (Browning, Robbie or Karel)
- For each individual donation fill all the information prior to returning the forms to Melissa or the Youth Staff. (Name of business, Value, description, etc.)
- We will log the credit for your child, and you will keep a personal log as well.
- Now go out and get more items.
