NEWS RELEASE: In-N-Out Burger to Locate in Draper

DRAPER, Utah.Draper City announces the owners of In-N-Out Burger have submitted plans for construction of a restaurant in Draper. The restaurant will be located in the Draper Peaks Shopping Center, visible from I-15, at 12195 So. Factory Outlet Dr. In-N-Out Burger is known for using fresh, never-frozen meat and fresh-cut, never-frozen fries.

“We are very pleased to be the first location in northern Utah. Our residents expressed in a survey that this was one of the restaurants they would like to see in Draper. I credit the good relationship between the developer and city representatives and the aggressive approach that the city council is taking towards economic development for bringing this restaurant into Draper,” said Mayor Darrell H. Smith.

The Draper Economic Development Department has been working with the owners of In-N-Out since last year and city officials met with the restaurant owners at the ICSC Conference in Las Vegas.

Bill Colbert, Draper City Councilman, is very excited to see this new business come to Draper and remarked: “I love In-N-Out and I am looking forward to a 4 x 4 animal style from the secret menu.”

This will be the first location in northern Utah for this popular restaurant franchise. There is an In-N-Out Burger Restaurant in southern Utah in the town of Washington. Other restaurants are located in three other states: California, Nevada and Arizona.

The proposed restaurant will be a 3,265 square foot, single story, quick-serve restaurant with a drive-thru. The owners plan to hire 50 to 60 part-time and full-time employees and will recruit from the local labor market. The restaurant will open in late summer.

The first In-N-Out Burger was founded in Baldwin Park, California, in 1948 by Harry and Esther Snyder. Harry’s idea of a drive-thru hamburger stand where customers could order through a speaker box caught on and California’s first drive-thru hamburger stand was born. In-N-Out remains privately owned by the Snyder family. The company’s philosophy is simple: "Give customers the freshest, highest quality foods you can buy and provide them with friendly service in a sparkling clean environment."
