Dear Green and Gold Members,
As we set out to start our summer lacrosse season this week I wanted to share some expectations and information. Our Green and Gold staff has been striving to make this summer the best one to date for our lacrosse program. We were very pleased with our winter session this past year, and we expect to use that as the foundation for an even better summer experience. One of the keys to make this summer a positive experience for everyone involved is to maintain good communication with one another as well as showing respect and good sportsmanship as we attend practices and tournaments.
I need to apologize to you all ahead of time as I am unable to attend practices in the month of June for our youth teams. I am taking my final class at NJCU to obtain my master’s degree on those nights. However, I leave you all in great hands. Jere Waldron, Rob Donnelly, and TJ Marron will coach our 56ers. Steve Delorenzo, Kevin Kley, Reese Lachner, and Andrew Lunger will be in charge of our 78ers. Coach Kley is unable to attend Tuesday practices due to various responsibilities he must attend to during the month of June. Coach Delorenzo will not be able to attend this Thursday as well due to an event he is running for North Hunterdon.
I want to be clear to everyone that there are many fluctuations in schedules for many people involved each summer. We have recognized the realities of summer, and created the best possible opportunities for our players and coaches with their schedules in mind. I do not see this as a lack of commitment; in fact it is quite the opposite. Many people, including our staff, have many obligations other than lacrosse over the course of the summer that we must attend to. We expect that when there is a schedule conflict that everyone communicates it ahead of time so we may plan accordingly, and set clear expectations for everyone.
One last item I want to highlight is our Summer Camp July 7-July 10. Please make every effort to attend our camp. It will be a great camp as we are offering quality instruction and bringing in college coaches to speak. We are offering a program for young players K-3 this year courtesy of First Shot Lacrosse which is an addition to our 4th- rising 9th grade participants. Please do your best to promote the camp out in the community.
We look forward to having a fun and productive summer, and would appreciate any respectful feedback you may have which you feel would improve your experience as we move forward. Green and Gold is about to have its best summer ever, and our staff is looking forward to working with you all to make that statement come true. If you want to achieve great things you must be willing to put in great work!
Best Regards,
Coach Conforti
