SPECIAL NOTE: Addendum #1 information shall supersede the information contained in the Contract Documents
This Addendum forms a part of the Contract Documents and modifies the original Bidding Documents dated December20, 2014, 5/22/2015 and May 2015. Acknowledge receipt of this Addendum in the space provided on the Bid Form. Failure to do so may subject the Bidder to disqualification.

Housing Opens/Students Arrive on campus: August 14, 2015
The prebid meeting addressed the following items:
- Schedule: Completion dates shall be strictly adhered to.
- Coordination of the work is critical.
- Safety: Zero accidents. All contractors shall practice safe workmanship practices
- Surrounding areas/buildings will be occupied throughout the project schedule.
- OSHA Training: Contractor shall provide minimum 10 hour OSHA Training Certification for workman and minimum 30 hour OSHA Training Certification for Working Foreperson or Supervisor to Owner prior to start of work. Reference 01015 General Requirements.
- Hazardous Materials: Contractor shall coordinate all required ACM removal with Owner. Inspection reports are available in the Owner’s office and will be posted to the MM FY15 website.
- Parking; Parking on grass surfaces is strictly prohibited. Parking in driveway of the woodframe is acceptable. Off street parking is available. Additional parking is available at the Vine Street parking lot.
- It is the contractors’ option to a flash drive or CD to obtain available AutoCAD drawings.
- Contractors are encouraged to check the major maintenance website frequently for new and updated information. Addenda, specifications and additional project work will be posted to the website as it becomes available.
- If out of office message is received when contacting R. Sillasen by phone or email, contractor is directed to call Steve Formica at 860-865-3778 or .
- A bond is not required. Builder’s Risk insurance is not required.
- Umbrella insurance requirements is $5,000,000.00. Insurance Certificate must name Wesleyan University as additional insured.

Documents and Contractor sign in sheet has been posted to the MM FY16 website . Major Maintenance FY16 project specifications are a part of this contract. Reference the project specifications reference box on the website.
The Work shall include but not be limited to the following:
- Coordination with the University and University Schedule
- Site security / Traffic control
- Coordination with other contractors

- Materials testing-paid by Owner
- Excavation
- Shoring
- De-watering
- Installation of filter fabric and geo-textiles
- Drainage pipe installation
- Yard drain installation
- Catch basin installation
- Domestic water service
- Gas coordination / excavation
- Sanitary excavation
- Installation of drainage stone
- Backfill
- Compaction
- Grading
- Trench drains
- Fine grading / landscaping & plantings
- Installation of concrete and concrete curbing

- Brick Red with autumn highlights

- Installation of retaining walls
- Installation of site rails
- Excavation for electrical
- Electrical site lighting coordination

- Tactile surfaces and coordination with City of Middletown
- Coordination with the City of Middletown and Eversource is required
- Concurrent project work will be taking place at the Exley Loading Dock
- The surrounding dormitories and academic buildings will be occupied
- Summer camps and Admission’s tours will require signage to reroute pedestrians to the north side of the street
Where it is noted to remove existing privet hedge and replace with lawn, Contractor shall maintain to the extent possible privet hedge on the Pine Street elevation to the new sidewalk.
Include the following additional plantings in the planting schedule:
- Boxwood, 5 gallon container, qty: 25. Locate in line with existing hedge to remain and plant to follow curve of concrete sidewalk to start of asphalt sidewalk.
- Substitute Pachysandra terminalis, qty. 396, in lieu of Rhus Aromatic ‘Grow Low’
- Provide 2” mulch to cover all soil around all new plantings between new concrete and asphalt walks.
Lawn restoration to be performed in all areas adjacent to new asphalt sidewalk.
The owner has a meeting scheduled with Eversource for gas coordination –Thursday, 9:00 am, 5/28/15
