Centre Leader – Rockhampton
Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service and GenesisCare, Australia’s largest provider of radiation therapy services, have partnered for the provision of world class integrated cancer care for Rockhampton and Central Queensland.
THE ROLE
The radiation therapy service at the Rockhampton hospital commenced in June 2016 and is growing rapidly. The successful applicant is expected to take an active role in the continued development of the services at the new facility and to establish and support a strong local team.
The successful candidate will have a strong background leading people and managing a large team of varying technical and clinical skill sets. The position will ensure there is a focus on developing a strong culture of high quality and efficient oncology services at the Rockhampton site and supporting regional outreach services. The Centre Leader will be required to have a strong commercial understanding of managing a practice, preferably in a healthcare setting.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Minimum Skills, Knowledge and Experience required for the position:
- Strong leadership skills and ability to effectively influence and negotiate with staff across all disciplines
- Relevant knowledge and experience in legislative and regulatory compliance for private health facility operators
- Demonstrated effective communication skills with experience in liaising, influencing and negotiating with staff at all levels of an organisation
- Excellent stakeholder management and ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships, particularly with Doctors and other Leaders
- Demonstrated understanding of the support and structure required to provide comprehensive cancer services
- Experience in leading change and engaging staff in the change management process
- Proven ability to manage according to set plans and budgets
- Ability to prioritise and time manage in a demanding environment and consistently demonstrate our vision and values
- Radiation Therapy background desirable but not essential
ABOUT THE PRACTICE
CANCER CARE QLD (ROCKHAMPTON)
Rockhampton is Central Queensland’s major city and boasts a thriving community with a broad mix of residential lifestyles (inner city, riverside, urbanvillage, coastal and rural).Rockhampton locals have access to attractions such as the Great Barrier Reef, Great Keppel and Lady Musgrave Islands, Byfield National Park, The Caves (caving, abseiling, Opera in the Caves), The Gemfields, and is gateway to the Great Australian Outback.
Rockhampton is also an educational hub, with the main campus of Queensland’s first dual-sector university (CQUniversity).
The newly constructed comprehensive Cancer Centre at Rockhampton Hospital is part of the Hospitals $244m expansion project. The Radiation Therapy Department is licensed to operate 2 state of the art linear accelerators, a simulation CT and planning system combined.
In addition to radiation therapy services, the comprehensive cancer centre will offer medical oncology (chemotherapy), pathology and treatment for haematological malignancies. Allied health services including counselling and nutrition will also be available, designed to empower patients to take a proactive and holistic approach to their care.
Outreach clinics will be established in Emerald, Gladstone and Biloela to service the wider Central Queensland community, providing consultations and follow up appointments as well as providing tele-health services for more remote patients.
The integrated network will be linked to a tertiary facility improving patient access to clinical trials and research. As part of the integrated network, the Central Queensland Regional Cancer Centre and GenesisCare will partner to provide on-campus education, training and peer support to grow and develop a sustainable and high quality workforce to meet the future health needs of the community.
This facility has been purpose built to provide an excellent continuum of care for oncology patients, with the radiation and medical oncology services integrated through advanced patient management software, allowing centralised management of and access to patient records.
