SNA AGENDA/ MINUTES

Call to order 7:35pm by President Katie Wagner.
Members are asked to sign in and pick up an agenda and ticket ballot.
OLD BUISNESS
Seagull Century [10/9]: Thank you to those who volunteered and helped cheer on the cyclist as they reached the finish line. Raulina will follow up with the Seagull Century office about depositing the money into our account.
Homecoming Block Party [10/16]: Thank you to those that volunteered and helped with the game.
NEW BUSINESS
Army ROTC came to speak with us briefly about the options nursing students have in their program. The contact person is Noel Milian .
T-shirts Vote: There are 8 options for t-shirt ideas. Members were asked to choose their top two ideas. Natalie will tally the votes to see which two t-shirts we will order.
- T-shirt order forms will be emailed Friday Nov. 5th
- Money and order forms dueto Natalie by MONDAY NOV. 22nd
Joseph House Food Drive: Everyone is encouraged to bring in canned goods and drop them off in boxes in front of the skills lab.
- Which class can donate the most canned food to Joseph House??? There is a contest between pre-nursing, junior and senior nursing students. There is a bulletin board posted to keep track of which class is in the lead. So far the juniors are ahead.
Upcoming Speakers: All SNA members are highly encouraged to attend each meeting.
- Air force recruiter: Monday Nov. 8th at 7pm in HS 243
- Nursing for patients that are Deaf: Friday Nov. 12th 5pm room229.
- Dr.Wagner from the education specialties dept will be coming to speak with us. She will do operating room scenarios in our skills lab.
- Army recruiter: Friday Nov. 19th at 5pm in HS 103
MANS Announcement: In order to get an SU van, we need to know how many members are going. This includes non-board members. Katie has contacted the nursing program at Wor-Wic to see if they would like to join us.
- 31st Annual State Convention will be Saturday Jan. 29th at University of MD school of Nursing in Baltimore, MD
- Cost to attend is $25 for NSNA members and $30 for non-NSNA members
2nd Degree Representative Elections!: Our current representative Rachael Lewis will be graduating this December. We are looking for someone to take that position starting next semester.
- If you want to be the next 2nd Degree Representative please email Katie Wagner by Monday Nov. 29th
Healthcare in China: A fusion of Traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine
- Dr.McDowell gave a very informative presentation on the study abroad trip with pictures from previous trips. She plans on taking 15 students with her. For individual questions email her .
Sam brought forth a new idea for a Semi-formal dance so nursing students can socialize together in a non-stressful environment. About half of the attendees at the meeting (mostly seniors) were in favor of the idea. Sam and Annie will begin looking up details and ticket information to see if the dance will fit into our budget.
