Bradford Planning Board
It has been a busy fall for the Bradford Planning Board. We have updated the Town’s Land Use Ordinance. There are no major changes, just some small adjustments. This is an ongoing process. As situations arise, and we notice we don’t have guidelines for them, we try to make adjustments. It is a long process and one that we do not take lightly. We will be having a public hearing on the ordinance on February 11, 2014 and we will vote on it at the town meeting in March.
We would like to congratulate Andrew and Amanda at Bradford General. The expansion is progressing nicely and I know everyone is excited for the completion.
The Community Development Advisory Committee has been working hard on policies to help attract more business to Bradford. As things get finished, we will update you further. As most of you know, RSU64 is working to get approval to build a new school in Corinth. The Board of Directors has worked very hard to get information to every citizen. On December 17, we will vote on the potential new school. Depending on how the vote goes, and other circumstances, the potential may exist for the town of Bradford to regain ownership of Bradford Elementary school (the building). The CDAC is developing a survey for the residents to get input on if the residents want the ownership of the building, and what everyone would like to see done with it. More on that will come later. We will also be holding public meetings on the topic. We want and need everyone’s input on these topics.
We would like to wish all our neighbors a happy holiday season and a happy, healthy and prosperous 2014!
Sincerely,
Diane McDonough, Chair
Bradford Recreation

Bradford Snowblazers
Hello Snowmobilers!!!
As we move from fall to winter, and I look out the window and see snow, I know there are many of you waiting to hit the trails. This fall has seen heartbreak in our club. We lost a very vital member of the Snowblazers, John Brackett. We are looking for members that are willing to step up and take some of the responsibility of dragging trails, of which John did a major part. As always, we are looking for new, interested members. Our club meets the second Tuesdays of the month at 7:00PM at the Bradford Community Center. Hope to see some new faces, as well as the old.
News From Your Library
Did you know that on April 7, 1913 the John B. Curtis Free Public Library was officially incorporated? We have received a very attractive certificate from the State of Maine commemorating this event. This event also means that we are getting very close to celebrating our 100th Birthday. The library officially opened in 1915. The trustees of the library are discussing ways to remember and celebrate those 100 years. Keep your eyes and ears open for information on upcoming events.
We are still collecting used ink cartridges and cell phones to recycle. These items earn extra money for the library. And don't forget, you can also help the library raise funds by using Goodsearch as your search engine on your computer. Just put John B Curtis Free Public Library (no period after the B) as your choice of charity. And while it is still a long ways until Bradford Days next July, and thus our Annual Book Sale, remember us when cleaning out those bookshelves. We are happy to take your donations anytime the library is open.
Please return your books on time. For your convenience, there is a book drop at the Bradford Town Hall. When dropping off books, please include a slip of paper with your name on it so we know whom the books are from. Unreturned books and DVDs are one of the biggest problems we have. Remember, they are NOT your books. To keep them is the same as stealing them.
Looking to make some year-end donations? Remember, the library is a tax deductible, 501 c(3) non-profit corporation. We are happy to accept donations of any amount. Thanks for considering us.

AND NOBODY CAME TO HELP YOU!!
Bradford Fire and Rescue is staffed entirely by volunteers. Without dedicated volunteers, the possibility of calls for help going unanswered could become a reality. Bradford Fire and Rescue is seeking individuals that would like to give back to their community. Afraid of stepping forward because you don’t think going into a burning building is for you or the sight of blood makes you queasy? No problem. We have opportunities for every comfort level.
If you would like to learn more about Bradford Fire and Rescue, contact any firefighter or EMT. You can also contact the fire chief, Dusty Kelley @ 207 944 0050 or stop by the station on a Tuesday evening.
