Senior Administrator required for April 2014 – fixed term contract for 2 years

Job Description- Roles and Responsibilities

This post involves working in an administrative role to co-ordinate and help to facilitate the activities of the North East EssexTeaching Schools Alliance.

This is a new role and the Senior Administrator will be employed by The Stanway School but will be line managed by the NEETSA Lead School(Colchester Royal Grammar School). Pay will be on LGS Band 3 midpoint (£16,998-£19,317 pro rata) and hours of work will be 37 per week, term time only with the flexibility to work 1 additional week during the summer holidays.

The North East Essex Teaching School Alliance (NEETSA) has been set up between 24 schools, colleges and teacher training organisations spread over North East Essex. Strong links already exist based on many years of loosely coupled partnership work across the region which has been based on mutual respect and shared education beliefs. Strategic planning is the responsibility of the Steering Group, which will provide directional and strategic overviews, evaluation and quality assurance. An Operational Group implements the Alliance development plans and action planning around 6 Key Strands – initial teacher training/continuing professional development/research & development/subject leaders in education/school to school support/leadership talent management. The Operational Group also evaluates and quality assures action plans

The post holder will be required to report to the NEETSA Facilitator and the Primary ITT Coordinator

  • Act as the first point of contact for the Teaching School Alliance
  • Ensure the ethos and the highest standards of the Teaching School Alliance are maintained
  • Ensure the NEETSA office runs efficiently and effectively
  • Provide secretarial , clerical and word processing support at a senior level, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality at all times
  • Provide personal assistance to the Alliance Facilitator and the Primary ITT Coordinator, minute meetings, manage appointments and contacts
  • Work under own initiative to ensure workload is prioritised and efficiently completed.
  • Maintain and update the Teaching School Alliance records
  • Events management of conferences, training courses and recruitment days
  • Maintain administrative oversight of all Teaching School Alliance activities
  • Attend meetings and take part in CPD
  • Maintain the Teaching School Alliance on-line calendar and upload information onto the website
  • Keep the Teaching School Alliance website up to date and develop with technical support
  • Establish constructive relationships with all stakeholders and partners
  • Ensure all emails and telephone calls regarding NEETSA and Primary ITT are responded to swiftly and efficiently
  • Maintain data base of all primary trainees
  • Collate and prepare Teaching School Alliance statistical information for external agencies
  • Liaise with partnership schools to support effective school placements
  • Maintain and update application data on the UCAS application system

Person Specification

  • Experience of supporting senior leaders in respect of their duties
  • Experience of working in an administrative setting
  • Experience of development, management and operation of administrative systems

Qualifications and Training

  • NVQ level3or equivalent qualification

Knowledge and Skills

  • Highly effective use of ICT
  • Good working knowledge of administrative processes and policies
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills
  • Work constructively as part of a team, understanding organisational roles and responsibilities
