AHOUSE RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE GERTRUDE YOUMANS BROWN OF GEORGETOWN COUNTY ON THE OCCASION OF HER EIGHTYFIFTH BIRTHDAY, AND TO WISH HER A JOYOUS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AND MANY YEARS OF CONTINUED HEALTH AND HAPPINESS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are delighted to learn that Gertrude Youmans Brown of Georgetown County will celebrate her eightyfifth birthday surrounded by her family and friends; and
Whereas, born in Jasper County on June 30, 1929, in the third decade of the twentieth century, she has witnessed many remarkable social changes, extraordinary technological advancements, and international developments that have spanned the globe from that time into the second decade of the twentyfirst century; and
Whereas, the daughter of Lille Mae Horton and Jesse Youmans, Gertrude Youmanswas born the second of their five children and her adopted sister; and
Whereas, she moved to Georgetown at an early age and has spent the rest of her life there; and
Whereas, together with her beloved husband of sixtyfive years, Harold Brown, she reared three fine children: Ms. Harold Jean Brown;the late Harold Brown, Jr.; and the late Dexter Brown; and
Whereas, Mrs. Brown has been a devoted housewife, and her husband describesher employment as a nurse’s aide, a case worker with Waccamaw Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), and a school crossing guard as her hobbies; and
Whereas, a faithful member of Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church, she remains active with the eight o’clock Sunday School Class and Usher Board Number 1, and her favorite passage in the Bible is the Psalm 37, which has taught her to trust in the Lord, to delight and rest in the Lord, and to commit her way to the Lord; and
Whereas, she enjoys cooking and reading, and she plans to continuetrusting in the Lord, grateful that,after all she has been through,shestill hasjoy; and
Whereas, not only a steadfast example to all those around her, she also remains a passionate advocate for her church and her community; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to honor this daughter of South Carolina at the celebration of her eightyfifth birthday and join with her family and friends in congratulating her on reaching this extraordinary milestone. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
Thatthe members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Gertrude Youmans Brown of Georgetown County on the occasion of her eightyfifth birthday, and wish her a joyous birthday celebration and many years of continued health and happiness.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Gertrude Youmans Brown.
