CLASS FORMAT
Fortnightly videoconferencing. The Videoconferencing (VC) sessions are held for 40mins once every two weeks. The VC sessions start with checking audio/video qualities and PPt slides readiness (5mins). Then, there will be 2 group presentations; one by an Australian school, and the other by a Korean school. In the first week, Australian students start a presentation; and the next week, Korean students start a presentation. Students use Power Point slides for their presentations in order to make it easy for their partner school students to understand details of the presented contents.
Power Point slides. Power Point slides must have pictures and/or visual images, and 2) keywords/phrases/sentences so that students of the partner school can understand the presentation contents more easily. PPt slides must be sent to the partner school teacher at least the day before the VC class.
Open Discussion. After the two group presentations from both sides, it is time for Open Discussion. Teachers encourage their students to ask questions in order to clarify details of the presented topic, and to think creatively applying what they learned to new contexts. Students are also encouraged to ask about any other topics of their interest, including personal/social/youth culture issues.
Summary. At the end of the VC session, teachers are encouraged to summarize key points learnt in the class.
Class format:
■ Checking audio/video qualities and PPt slides (5mins)
■ Brief intro (2mins)
■ AUS school’s PPt presentation (5mins) à KOR school’s Questions (5mins)
■ KOR school’s PPt presentation (5mins) à AUS school’s Questions (5mins)
■ Open Discussion, led by teachers (10mins): to digest information, and clarify it.
■ Wrap-up: Teachers summarize key points (2mins)
