- Meeting called to order at 7:04pm& presence of a quorum noted (25)

- Attendance/sign-in sheet pointed out & everyone reminded to sign in
- Minutes from the March meetinghave been posted on the PTA website. No corrections/additions so the meeting minutes stand approved.

- 4th grade teachers were thanked for coming
- Curriculum Adoption PowerPoint presented, reviewing the new Curriculum that will be phased in over the next 3 years. More info will be available on the MCPS website (

- If you chair an event and you get/ give donations for it, please let the PTA know so they can include it when planning the following year’s budget

- The event was a huge success so we will have it again next year

- JLES recently received a $544 check from the Harris Teeter program and the PTA received $3651 from Giant
- Staff Appreciation Week, May 7-11--Kelly Tyree Chrissy Spano
- Sundayevening:students can come to the school and use sidewalk chalk to decorate the front entrance sidewalk with notes of thanks and appreciation to the JLES staff
- Monday:each staff member gets a personalized glass mason jar mug filled with lemonade packets, reusable straw, and yellow candies.

- Proposal to fund 4th Grade students to attend the MAEOE Green School Awards on 5/31
- Proposed amount: $780, to cover half the cost of buses to go to Green Schools Youth Summit $2/person entry fee—proposal presented by Carolyn Silvey
- Occurs once every 4 years
- Approved with 40 yea’s and 0 nay’s
- Follow-up proposal: Use $500 of last year’s $1500 PTA donation to the school to put toward the Green School Awards trip

- Concern brought up by Jen Legge regarding allowing electronics on 4th/5th field trips. Ms. Sample will send out a survey to 4th grade parents to get their opinion on the matter.
