AVA Wellbeing Fund – phase 2
Here at AVA we facilitateda second round of awards from the AVA Wellbeing Fund, completing the process in December 2016. Once again the calibre of applications was excellent, illustrating the great diversity and range of projects undertaken in Garioch and Formartine. Eleven applications were received, with four larger and four smaller awards made. The three projects declined funding, duplicated other existing projects, so the panel felt that a grant award would have less impact.
The four larger grants were received by Cornfields and CLAN for ongoing therapeutic and counselling support for clients. The Inverurie Foodbank was assisted with its expansion plans and Port Elphinstone Community House was enabled to begin a garden project. Smaller awards were made to Grampian Woodworkers for new lathes, Grampian Strikers for new football equipment, Spectrum Singers for music sheets and Newmachar Thursday Club for general support. The Wellbeing fund was designed to be flexible and without the constraints imposed by other funds so we feel the results reflect this. As to the future? Watch this space.
