1.Overall evaluation

(i)How would you rate this module overall?

Poor / Satisfactory / Good / Very good
2 / 3 / 4

(ii)Did the module fulfil its stated aims, objectives and learning outcomes?

Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes

Please comment if you wish:When a module makes someone to consider new horizons and strategies, when it makes one to make experiments onnewdata and creates new approaches, then its target is accomplished.

From my point of view, the contents in this module are very interesting as they provide a form totally different from those traditionally and usually carried out at school institutions. I think it provides a totally different perspective of a reality very far from the one shown at ordinary schools.

(ii) Would you recommend the module to others? Yes Yes, Yes, Yes

(iv) Which sections did you find useful? Why?

The whole module is interesting. Most of all I appreciated the section including the new approach of activities, since it offers new teaching ideas, centralized in ICT.

According to the needs coming up in my professional experience, the classroom organisation in station centres is one of the most useful aspects. It meets the characteristics and special features of teaching at multigrade schools.

Tips on setting up a technology corner are good and useful.

(vi) How could we improve this module in future?

In order to express safe suggestions, time is pre-required so that new strategies will be actively tried.

I believe it is important to take into account flexibility when organising the classroom. This is one of the most important aspects of multigrade classroom organisation. In many cases, stressing flexibility in organisation possibilities might improve teaching and learning conditions at multigrade schools.

Suggestions for further study: there would be more e-links ….?

(vii) Is there anything else you would like to comment on to help future planning of this module?

You must have a plan if the technique doesn’t work.

(iii)Would you recommend the module to others?

Yes Yes Yes, Yes

(iv) Which sections did you find useful? Why?

The whole module was interesting. But most of all I enjoyed the part of the organization of the computer – activity center and the guidelines for its implementation

In my opinion, the most useful section for multigrade school teachers is the one providing advice for the creation of stations in the classroom. I think this is a proper method to face the diversity existing in classrooms with students of different educational levels. I think it provides very useful options to take into account when organising a flexible classroom adapted to multigrade school conditions.

(vi) How could we improve this module in future?

It needs a longer time of implementation before ones judges its utility.

I think it is very important to match the organisation classroom characteristics with the specific curriculum activities which are being carried out at every moment

(vii) Is there anything else you would like to comment on to help future planning of this module?

We have to take into consideration different children (teacher will know how it works with that group) for example special children who are integrated in the normal class.

2 / 434

(ii) Did the module fulfil its stated aims, objectives and learning outcomes?

Yes Yes Yes, Yes

Pleasecommentifyouwish: The aim of this module was the theoretical overview and the information of the multigrade teacher, and of any other that is interested and would like to get to know these schools. By attending this module, I believe one comes to understand, what are the basic principles and differentiation of these schools.

(iii) Would you recommend the module to others?YesYes, YesYes

(iv) Which sections did you find useful? Why?

I believe that the whole session is useful, since it helps teachers to be more effective. In addition, it helps everybody that would like to approach these schools to go deeper in the methods of multigrade teaching and in the innovative ideas concerning teaching.

I think this is a document of great interest because it provides an overview of the multigrade school reality

(vi) How could we improve this module in future?

Teaching in multigrade schools is a concept, most individuals are not familiarized with. Since multigrade teaching is not included – regularly- in university’s curricula, there are not sufficient information for it. So, dissemination -concerning multigrade teaching- to teachers, schools and universities is essential.

I would have taken into account other theoretical overviews in order to know the way multigrade schools are considered and conceptualised from other different perspectives.

(vii) Is there anything else you would like to comment on to help future planning of this module?

Since there are not sufficient information about multigrade teaching (even among teachers of conventional, monograde schools), dissemination of multigrade teaching is important. So, I suggest that this session should be simplified and be forwarded to the society.

It would be good if there is someone as a tutor when you study in service training programme. You are quite alone and maybe shy to try and use new technique and programmes

2.Tutor support: Did you feel well-supported by your tutor on this module?

Organization is crucial, since in Greece, support concerning multigrade teachers is minimum. So, everything new that can facilitate their work, is more than welcomed.

(iii) Would you recommend the module to others? Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes

(iv)Which sections did you find useful? Why?

Multigrade teaching is important for all individuals involved. (teachers, pupils, parents). For a fresh multigrade teacher there are so many new things to copy with, that anything that can help them organize and teach with the minimum means available, is important. But, for experienced teachers also, this session can be important, since it introduces innovative ideas.

The steps to take when reorganising the curriculum in order to meet diversity in multigrade schools. From my point of view, this is something very important because we do not really know how to adapt the curriculum to the varied situations existing in multigrade schools.

Suggestions for good practise and activities

(vi) How could we improve this module in future?

This session in the future can be a bit simplified in its structure, so that it would be adjusted in all types of multigrade schools. It has to be a bit more flexible and general.

From my point of view, it is very important to make a deeper study of the curriculum evaluation and its implications in the curriculum reorganisation.

How can the parents, special teachers and other experts take part in organising the curriculum and what is good practise.

(vii) Is there anything else you would like to comment on to help future planning of this module?

This is the most important module. How can we good enough take care of special children and bright pupils

This session helps the teacher to realize the multilateral role of these schools. When the teacher realizes the peculiar structure of this school type, it would be easier to perform and achieve his/her teaching goals.

I think this is an excellent document for multigrade school teachers to get closer to the reality we face when developing our educational practice.

(iii) Would you recommend the module to others?Yes Yes, Yes, Yes

(iv) Which sections did you find useful? Why?

Teacher’s role in multigrade schools is essential and irreplaceable. I firmly believe that there isn’t a teacher that does not wish his/her teaching aims to be realized. If he/she has also the correct guidelines, everything is easier. Here comes the necessity of this session of the project.

Those of the different roles the teachers play in multigrade schools. The reason is that it is revealed the work complexity in schools with such characteristics. Furthermore, this makes teachers become more aware of the numerous functions they should perform and the numerous roles they should play in order to meet diversity in multigrade schools properly.

As evaluator

(vi) How could we improve this module in future?

It can be enriched with more teaching ideas and motivations

From my point of view, it could be included an activity in which the teachers could reflect on their daily activities so that they can define their activities and roles in their educational practice. I think this would be a good way for the teachers to match the theoretical contents of this unit with their own experience.

(vii) Is there anything else you would like to comment on to help future planning of this module? This session has to be regularly altered and renewed.

ANNEX 4: MODULE EVALUATION FORM: The potential of ICT in multigrade teaching partner school teacher

1.Overall evaluation

(ii0Did the module fulfil its stated aims, objectives and learning outcomes?

Yes Yes Yes Yes

ICT can be a powerful tool for both multigrade students and teachers. Ict can be used as a distance learning tool for the training of teachers. But, more over, ict can be an innovative way to create in-class activities. This session is fulfilling its aims, introducing ict’s role in class.

I think this is a basic module to fulfil the project aims.

(iii)Would you recommend the module to others?

Yes Yes Yes Yes

(iv) Which sections did you find useful? Why?

Ict’s enrollment promises drastic changes in all aspects of life. But for isolated-socially and/or geographically- areas it is of even greater importance. From this point of view, ict can offer to isolated multigrade schools access to data and educational information, no matter where they live. So, providing a multigrade teacher the prowess to use ict, can bridge his/her school with the rest educational community, nationally or worldwide.

Those matching the use of ICT with multigrade school curriculum. It provides different fields so that the resources can be included in daily practice and also in the way teaching-learning processes are conceived in schools and therefore, in the curriculum.

How to use it . It takes a lot of time and you must be motivated and a little interested about ICT. Quite interesting is if some day there are enough e-books , so you can pick up the most important things and then it serves once again special children.

(vi) How could we improve this module in future?

Sincetherearenoofficialandregularmeasuresoftrainingmultigradeteachersinict, muse project (after its end)shouldbetransformed into a constant, simple, user friendly distance training in ict for multigrade teachers.

I would improve it by stressing the problems of the use of ICT at school. I think this is important because it would enable to underline the positive influence of new technologies at school. Furthermore, it would mean a way to overcome the difficulties that might come up in the development of the educational practice.

(vii) Is there anything else you would like to comment on to help future planning of this module? ICT is one good tool for example for special children

ANNEX 5: RECORD OF TUTORIAL SUPPORT: Classroom organization I, Partner Institute

  1. Issues covered during support session

It is essential that the multigrade classroom is well organized and structured in such a way as to facilitate different types of teaching and learning, so issues will emphasize in that. Probably the teacher finds necessary to ask other questions too, according to the specific conditions in the classroom. It is worth supplementing the above general questions with some more specific. The classroom organization, so far as setting is concerned, must be flexible so as to serve different kind of activities

Information, analysis and reflection on the organisation aspects of the development of an appropriate teaching in multilevel classrooms.

Classroom organization-module 1.

The support session for MUSE teachers was arranged before the training.

Classroom organization-module 1.

The support session for MUSE teachers was arranged before the training.

  1. Action to be taken by partner school teacher

The school teacher will draw on a paper his class organization and settlement of furniture as it is now. Then, he will draw it again, modified with activities centers, as explained in the session. He will prepare separate activities, for the separate groups of the class, for a specific lesson. The activities will be traditional (Quiet or individual study and testing, Whole-class teaching, Pair- work, Group- work…) Then he will prepare separate activities involving ict. Students will describe whether they judge ict use is beneficial

Reading of the documents made available in his native language.
