A HOUSE RESOLUTION
TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE DEATH OF CAROLYN BAILEY OF CONWAY AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Carolyn Bailey of Conway on January 2, 2014; and
Whereas, born in Waukesha, Wisconsin, on June 22, 1947, Carolyn Bailey was the daughter of Charles E. and Ruth Larson Shick. This servicehearted lady taught school for eighteen years in Illinois, and after moving to the Grand Strand, she taught at North Myrtle Beach Middle School and Waccamaw Academy; and
Whereas, in addition, Carolyn Bailey was an awardwinning State Farm agent for twentyfive years, servicing the Socastee community in Myrtle Beach; and
Whereas, Carolyn believed strongly in active participation in the community, and she demonstrated that conviction through her association with a number of organizations. She was an active contributor and supporter of Coastal Animal Rescue, Christian Missions Outreach, and the Sheriff’s Foundation of Horry County. She volunteered her time with the Socastee Heritage Foundation and contributed to that organization. A proud sponsor of Coastal Carolina University, Socastee High School, and St. James High School Athletics, she also was a team sponsor for the Conway Parks, Recreation Tourism Department; and
Whereas, as a woman of faith, Carolyn served her God at First United Methodist Church in Conway, where she was a member. Away from work, Carolyn loved to indulge in a round of golf and be with her grandchildren; and
Whereas, she leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Eddie Bailey; son Tyler Thomas and his wife, Kelli; daughter Christine Morris and her husband, Michael; stepson Richard Bailey; four grandchildren, Caitlyn, T.J., Cooper, and Kingsley; and a host of other relatives and friends. She will be missed. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the death of Carolyn Bailey of Conway and extend the deepest sympathy to her family and many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Eddie Bailey for the family.
