Willow Lane Read-A-Thon

~2016~

Be a part of the 6th annual Willow Lane Read-A-Thon! The Read-A-Thon is a fun, educational way for our students to use their love of reading to raise money for their school!

The Read-A-Thon is our school’s largest fundraiser, and is counted on to raise fundsto support our school, students and teachers, so please encourage your children totake part. This year, our school goal is to read a total of 330,000 minutes!

Instructions

  • READ! Only reading done outside of school can be counted. Reading books, magazines, comic books, blogs and other material on-line, all count. For our kindergarteners, parents reading to studentscan be counted.
  • Use the enclosed calendar to log your reading minutes each day. Please track minutes accurately – no guessing or rounding.
  • Record total minutes read for the week on the Weekly Reading Update Sheets. Update Sheets are due on Monday, and must be signed by a parent/guardian in order for them to be counted.
  • Weekly Reading Updates turned in late will be counted, but not until the following week.
  • No minutes will be accepted after February 10th.

Pledges

  • Enclosed is a Pledge Log to be used by students/parents to log pledges they receive from friends/family. Pledges may be made in a lump sum or per minute (be careful - minutes add up quickly! Example: $.25/minutes X 600 minutes = $150)
  • Return your completed Pledge Log to your teacher by Jan. 22nd.
  • Gather pledges by phone, email or in person. Please DO NOT go door to door without a parent/guardian, and even then, only go to people you know.
  • At the end of the Read-A-Thon, your pledge sheets will be returned to you so you can collect all pledges. Any checks should be made out to YOU, and then you send ONE check to school for the total pledge amount – made out to Willow Lane PTO.
