Clinic Information and Policies

Lesson Rates:

Semi-Private 1 ½ hour Gymnastic / Stadium Jumping: $45

Private 1 hour Dressage: $55

Semi-Private Dressage: $35

Facility Fee: $10 per participant for both days.

Downeast Dressage Client Discount: If you’ve been a Downeast Dressage client within 3 months of the clinic date, you enjoy a $5 discount! Thank you for your support!

Registration Deadline: WEDNESDAY JULY 21, 2010

Late Registrations: Registrations received after the Registration Deadline will be admitted, if the schedule allows and upon receipt of the late registration fee ($10/ day per participant.)

Withdrawal of registration: Prior to the Registration Deadline Date, refunds will be made at the discretion of the Downeast Dressage. After THE REGISTREATION DEADLINE DATE, refunds will be made only if the WITHDRAWAL IS filled by another rider.

Cancellation of clinic: The clinic may be cancelled if there are registrations for less than five lessons per day by the Registration Deadline Date.

Scheduling and Weather: Downeast Dressage reserves the right to schedule and combine classes, but will take into consideration any scheduling requests made by participants. The clinic will proceed rain, snow or shine , though Downeast Dressage reserves the right to delay or postpone lessons in the event of lightening or other unsafe conditions.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT & ACCEPTANCE OF RISKS & LIABILITY RELEASE

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

WARNING: Be aware that horses and horseback riding are dangerous at ALL times and under ALL circumstances. Horseback riding and horse handling involve certain risks that can and often do result in severe and permanent injury. These risks and dangers are inherent risks of the sport. It is not possible to predict in every situation how horses will act or react to their surroundings. Included among the principal sources of injuries are falls with resulting head concussions, back injuries, and other trauma, broken bones, eye injuries from tree branches. In handling a horse, injuries such as kicks, bites, being stepped on, or being heavily shoved or pushed by the horse are some of the risks that could result in injury. Safety is directly affected by the rider’s judgment in judging his or her ability or a parent in judging his or her child’s ability to ride and handle a horse from the ground. To avoid severe falls or injury, the rider should ride only within his or her ability. Be alert to continually changing weather, visibility and surface conditions and other inherent risks including but not limited to: existing and changing surface or subsurface ground conditions; trees, limbs, stumps, roots, fences, bridges, mud, ice, snow; miscellaneous objects that may spook or frighten the horse; other man-made structures or natural terrain modifications and features; the presence of and collisions with other riders; and failure of others to ride safely.

I have read and understand the Warning above. I understand and acknowledge the risks of injury and death that are a part of all equitation activities including horseback riding and horse handling. I am aware all forms of such activities are hazardous, filled with high risk and that falls, collisions and injuries are common occurrences resulting from the sport.
As a condition of participating in lessons, training, or other activities provided by Downeast Dressage LLC, or using the facilities of Downeast Dressage, LLC, or other facilities hosting training, instruction or other activities provided by Downeast Dressage LLC, to include but not limited to stables, riding ring, field, jumps, horses, equitation equipment (saddles, etc.), I hereby Release and Promise I Will Hold Harmless and Indemnify Downeast Dressage LLC, its affiliates, agents, employees, and owners of facilities permitted for use by Downeast Dressage LLC for the purpose of these activities (the Releasees) from any and all liability for personal injury, including death, and any and all property damage, including damage to my horse and equipment, in any way rising from participation in lessons and training or use of their facilities, horses and/ or equipment, including but not limited to any alleged NEGLIGENCE on the part of the Releasees in the construction or maintenance of the facilities and the selection, maintenance, installation or adjustment of the equipment and its use, or selection or instruction of lesson and/ or training exercises and equipment and its use, and weather or not the injury arose due to defects or conditions that were known, knowable, or latent. For myself, my heirs and assigns, I accept these risks and promise not to sue the Releasees for loss or injury to person or property that may result from my participation in any equestrian activities under the instruction of or on the premises of the Releasees and from the inherent risks such as (but not limited to) those listed in the WARNING above.

This Release is intended to comply with the laws of the State of Maine and to be used to the full extent allowed by the law. If any part of this Release is determined to be unenforceable, all other parts shall be given full force and effect.

I accept for use, as is, any equipment provided and accept full responsibility for its care while in my possession. I also release the Releasees from any liability for the use of their helmets or other equipment.
There has been no misrepresentation in regard to my age or ability.
I agree all disputes arising under this Release shall be litigated in the State of Maine, governed by the laws of the State of Maine, and in no other jurisdiction.
This Release shall remain in full force for an indefinite term until specifically revoked in writing. I understand this entire agreement shall be binding upon my heirs and assigns and shall be equally applicable to any equitation activities undertaken by my child or children in the instruction of or on the premises of Downeast Dressage, LLC.

I, the undersigned have read and understand this Acknowledgment & Acceptance of Risk and Liability Release and, in complete acceptance of the above terms, hereby agree and indemnify the Releasees from any and all injuries and damages arising from my use of the facilities and equipment, and from the participation in equitation activities.

DOWNEAST DRESSAGE POLICIES & BAGADUCE VIEW FARM RULES

Downeast Dressage’s Farm Rules and Policies have been developed over time, with thought and observation, to provide a safe and healthful equestrian experience, and to maintain the ease and efficiency of our operations.

Respect the perspectives and intentions of our horses. They enthusiastically welcome you as a guest at their home.
For the safety of our horses, all GREEN PERIMETER gates are to be kept closed.
If you have any questions, just ask 
Completed Release and Participant Information form, signed by participant or participant’s parent / guardian, in the case of a participant minor, is required prior tobeginning any educational activities.
All appointments are assumed to be “rain, snow or shine.” Should you need to cancel a lesson or training session, be courteous and cancel by calling the farm number 326-4382 as soon as you can. Cancellations with less than 2 hours notice to this number will be subject to a $25 Late Cancellation Fee. If we need to cancel, we’ll give you at least 2 hours notice or ½ off your next appointment!
ASTM approved protective headgear is required for mounted activities by participants under 18, and recommended for everyone.
Dress appropriately in durable, fitted but non-binding attire and high or low boot with a heal.
Tetanus shots within 10 years are recommended for all participants of equine activities.
Familiarize yourself with the location of fire extinguishers, first aid supplies, emergency phone number list, and phone – hint: they’re all located in the tack room.
No smoking of any kind is permitted within the fenced farm property. Please ask about an appropriate location outside the fenced area, if necessary.
No alcoholic beverages are permitted within the fenced farm property.
Visiting children must be supervised by parent or guardian.
Visiting dogs must be happy, licensed, up to date on rabies vaccination, and leashed or confined.
Proof of negative coggins within 3 years and rabies vaccination within 1 year must be provided for all visiting horses, prior to their unloading. Additionally, owners of visiting horses must complete and sign the Release and Participant Information form prior to the horse’s arrival.
