Metropolitan State University Required Training
Welcome to Metropolitan State University! The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) system office has mandatory trainings that you must complete as part of your employment with Metropolitan State University.
There are four mandatory trainings for all university employees. Two Desire2Learn (D2L) modules and two video-based training modules have been specifically designed to help MnSCU employees understand their responsibilities with regard to ethics, data privacy and security, and related laws, board policies, and system procedures.
We ask that you complete the training modules within the first thirty days of employment.
Accessing D2L is a mouse click off of the Metropolitan State University website (www.metrostate.edu - top right) or if inside the portal, scroll down to “Collaboration Sites” and select D2L. Use your STARID and password to access D2L and the portal. Once in D2L, scroll down to “My Courses” (middle of the page) to access the training modules. Note for faculty: You may have two tabs under “My Courses”. Please click on the “Student” tab to view these courses, rather than the “Instructor” tab. Instructions are displayed once you click into a course.
Clicking here: Will bring you the page below:
Some of these courses have videos and multiple sections to complete. At the end of some sections, there may be a quiz and/or you may be asked to respond to a question indicating that you have reviewed the course material.
In order to receive credit for completing the D2L courses, you must respond to the “quiz” in each section to indicate you have reviewed the information in the training modules.
Employee Code of Conduct:This training will raise your awareness about the Code of Conduct, help you understand your responsibilities as an employee of the university, highlight the need for your good stewardship of the system’s resources, and reduce your risk of engaging in unethical behavior. As an employee of MnSCU, you are responsible for knowing and following the Employee Code of Conduct. / Public Jobs: Private Data:
This training will inform you about the need to protect data and help you better understand how to use effective technical and non-technical security practices in your everyday activities. All MnSCU employees need to be informed of their responsibility for the security and privacy of information accessed on a daily basis. / Employee-Right-to-Know:
(web-based video) This training is about safety compliance and education required in all MnSCU institutions. / Sexual Harassment Training:
(e-learning course) New employees are asked to complete an online State of Minnesota sexual harassment course as well as an additional online course with information specific to the MnSCU system.
