Question: Does obesity exist in America?

It certainly does! As of 2016:

  • over 60% of the US population is considered overweight
  • 1/3 of the US population is considered obese
  • 1/4 of all children in the USA are considered overweight
  • 11% of those children are considered obese

What is Obese? Body Mass Index (BMI) is a person's weight in kilograms divided by the square of height in meters. A high BMI can be an indicator of high body fatness. If your BMI is 30.0 or higher, it falls within the obese range.

  • Ammonia (aka "pink slime")
  • Fat (trans fat - yes its bad!)
  • Additives (what is sodium phosphate anyways?)
  • Risk of Contamination (meat of 1,000 cows...)
  • More than just meat... (what is in that burger?)

The good news is that you CAN make a healthy burger at home by using organic meat, healthy additives like onions which add moisture or fiber-rich oats.
