English 11R
Course Overview:
The grade 11 English curriculum focuses on strengthening and developing language arts skills. Units will be thematically based around a major work (novel or play) with emphasis on New York State standards and preparation for the Regents Exam which students will take in January. Students will also have the opportunity to retake the exam in June in order to achieve a passing grade or raise grades. Vocabulary, spelling, grammar, and basic writing skills will be refined through frequent writing, both personal and formal, as well as through group work and oral presentations. In alignment with the social studies curriculum, the English curriculum is concentrated in American literature.
