FUNDRAISING & DEVELOPMENT

FACT is the UK's leading organisation for commissioning, exhibiting, promoting and supporting artists’ work and innovation in the fields of film, video, and new media. Housed in the iconic FACT building in the historic Ropewalks area two galleries, a Media Lounge and state-of-the-art cinemas invite visitors to experience a range of FACT activities from exhibitions and live webcasts, to training and conferences.

The Fundraising & Development Team

FACT’s Fundraising and Development team is responsible for the researching, sourcing and procuring of funds from a variety of sources, including statutory sources, trusts and foundations, individuals and companies. Working closely with the Heads of department, the team is responsible for coordinating and implementing the fundraising strategy, which places a strong emphasis on diversifying its income and developing long term and mutually beneficial relationships

Purpose of Post

The purpose of the internship is to gain knowledge about the practical aspects of working in a fundraising department. Whilst on your internship you will provide administrative and practical support to the FACT Fundraising team. The intern will work collaboratively with other departments to help secure the fundraising targets of the department. The post will assist in ensuring the department’s objectives are met.

Areas of work will include:

  • To assist in carrying out research to identify funding opportunities.This will include identifying new initiatives and spotting new trends.
  • To draft and produce written correspondence such as letters, reports or other documents and communication items
  • To provide a high quality telephone service to internal and external stakeholders in an efficient, effective and professional way
  • To file and archive funding bids
  • To assist in the management data including the moving of historical data into a new database
  • To help with general administrative assistance to the Fundraising team
  • To assist at fundraising-related events
  • To assist in providing research prospective donors and funders
  • To help with the coordination of administration between fundraising and marketing

The above duties should not be regarded as exhaustive or inclusive as there may be other duties associated with the internship, which FACT may, from time to time, require the post holder to perform.

Essential

  • Demonstrable interest in a career in fundraising in the charitable sector
  • Demonstrable interest in the arts/culture
  • Excellent word processing skills, with good knowledge of Excel and database administration
  • High computer literacy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong ability to deal with people of all levels of seniority and background

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Mac systems
  • Previous experience of the fundraising process
