YES NO

Comments:

Funding to assist with participant’s living costs

While applications for College or external “bursaries” are a route most staff wish to explore to off-set the living costs of the participant, UROP requests here whether the general intention would be, should all other options fail, for you to provide a “bursary” (from a general departmental / research or sponsorship account). Information on other bursaries available can be found on the web-site. Please Note: This information is not included in the Departmental UROP Listing unless you stipulate by ticking this box

YES NO Unsure

Please take note that the aim of UROP is to provide meaningful exposure to and experience of the research environment and this should be achieved through a structured and supervised research experience. It is on this basis that HMRC designate any payments made to UROP students as being bursaries (i.e. no income tax or National insurance contributions are deducted at source). Participating members of staff are kindly requested to observe this principle when submitting this form. Thank you for your co-operation.

Funding to cover consumables/project costs

Most bursary competitions do not provide assistance towards the costs of projects. Therefore, it is normally falls on the host supervisor to cover these costs.

Please note:

·  Prior to a UROP commencing the host department should ensure they have submitted the UROP Placement Registration Form (available from the UROP website) to Registry Records: http://www3.imperial.ac.uk/urop/howtogetinvolved/successfulapplicationwhatnext

·  Advice on how to host a UROP participant can be found on the UROP website.

·  Queries regarding UROP can be addressed to

·  Therefore, by default all members of academic staff who do not submit a form will be presumed to be contactable by students and as such UROP will encourage students to this end.
