SAIC SUPPORTED SKILLS AND TRAINING INTERNSHIP
INDUSTRY APPLICATION FORM
**DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS EXTENDED TO 14 JUNE 2016**
The Scottish Aquaculture Innovation Centre (SAIC) aims to develop closer connections and foster innovative, industry-relevant collaboration through research partnerships. Businesses of all sizes can gain from our support for innovation, just as researchers and postgraduates at all stages of their careers can contribute. SAIC is committed to helping its members to recognize talent by connecting recent graduates with the aquaculture industry.
Rationale
HR managers from SAIC consortium companies have identified gaps in the business awareness of recent graduates. In order to support this, SAIC will contribute £5,000 to the cost of upto five 12 to 18-month internshipplaces.SAIC will also provide two one day workshops for all SAIC graduate interns delivering (a) training on CV writing and interview techniques and (b)an entrepreneurship andinnovation day.
This internship is aimed at companies who are looking for talent and have a project ongoing to which a recent graduate could contribute. For example, if your company is currently undertaking a project to develop a new process or technology an intern can contribute to this while learning about the company. The internship will be open to BSc, MSc and PhD graduates from Scottish universities who have completed within the last three years.
Every internship will be different, but should incorporate the following elements:
- Full-time work for 12 to 18 months
- A defined project that creates real value for the company and a learning experience for the student about business awareness
- An assigned mentor or supervisor within the company.
Internships will be awarded on the basis of the innovation project detailed, the quality of the training experience to be gained by the intern. Applications from the SMEs are particularly encouraged.
Timeline
The proposal should be submitted no later than 14 June 2016. Successful industry applicants will be informed by 30 June 2016 after which the opportunity will be advertised. Interviews should take place at the company’s discretion, however the internships should aim to start before the end of 2016.
