Bidders Questions
- Q. Please verify that earthwork quantities are in cubic feet.A. The estimated earthwork quantities are measured in cubic yards.
- Q. Can the width of the aggregate cart path be increased to 8 ft for use of common paving machines?A. Yes they can be 8’ wide. Paving of cart paths will not be completed in Phase1.
- Q. Is the earthwork meant to balance?A. Yes the earthwork will balance and no spoils will need to be hauled off-site.
- Q. Is on-site disposal of removed cart path acceptable?A. Yes, on-site disposal of removed cart path materials shall be disposed of in the bottom layer of fill areas greater than 2 feet thick.
- Q. Is tax to be included in the bid price?A. No, the Cleveland Metroparks is tax exempt.
- Q. Will an overflow or equalizer pipe be necessary in the new pond or to connect to the existing pond on #9?A.Details will be issued via addendum post bid to the awarded Contractor. All Contractors shall include in their bid per the revised instructions to bidders via addendum No.1, a $35,000 Allowance.
- Q. Please verify topsoil strip and replace requirements? A.All topsoil is to be stripped and stock piled. The Contractor shall then spread the topsoil after rough grading is complete.
- Q. Are contractors responsible for repair of any irrigation or drainage encountered during earthwork?A. No the existing irrigation pipe and drainage pipe have been abandoned.
- Q. Per item 6.1.2, is there a general location for the 4" risers? Does this refer to bunkers only or additional locations?A.Bunkers Only. Contractor shall communicate with golf course shaper and architect consultant to determine final location(s).
- Q. Does existing stripped topsoil need to be processed before respread?A. No.
- Q. Are the riser pipes at each bunker to be installed by us or shaper?A.Contractor shall communicate with golf course shaper and architect consultant to determine final location(s).
- Q. Can we use asphalt screenings in lieu of limestone screenings?A. No asphalt screenings cannot be used.
- Q. Can you post the CAD drawing for our use on cut and fills? A. To receive CAD drawings email Bob Burichin at . The Cleveland Metroparks are supplying CAD files to you dated 8/28/14 for Phase I of the Seneca Golf Course improvements, Bid No. 6004.Thesupplying of these files is done so merely as a convenience and they are not to be relied upon, or act as a contract document.
- Q. What is the size and type of the existing pipe to be removed in the new pond? A. 24” concrete pipe.
- Q. Looking at the plans, sheet 21 notes that all internal bunker drainage is to be 4" perforated ADS, but this drainage isn't detailed on the plan. Is it to be as built by us, or installed later by the shaper or you guys? A. All drainage and piping shown in the contract documents is to be installed by the Contractor. Contractor shall communicate with golf course shaper and architect consultant to determine final location(s).
- Q. Will we be able to use the construction entrance on Edgerton at the SE corner of whole 6C as mentioned during the walk through? A. Yes, but the Contractor will have to check with the City of Brecksville on load restrictions.
- Q. Will the questions raised during pre-bid be addressed via addendum? A. Yes, all questions will be answered in the pre-bid meeting minutes.
- Q. Is there a license requirement to bid this job? Is the contractor required to have an Ohio State Issued contractors license? A.TheContractor must be licensed in the State of Ohio.
- Q. Specs say bids will be received until 2:00 pm on Sept 3rd, and public purchase website says bid closes at 11:00 am. Which is the correct deadline? A. Bids will be accepted until 2:00 p.m. on September 3rd, 2014 at 4101 Fulton Parkway, Cleveland, Ohio 44144.
- Q. What is the projected start date for this project? A. The projected start date is pending a signed contract, Board approval, and approval of the SWPPP. The Contractor is responsible for preparation and permitting of the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan. The next scheduled Board meeting is for September 12, 2014.
