a subsidiary of MANN+HUMMEL

OHL Engineering GmbH PET Recycling Technologies, a subsidiary of SCHOELLER, Pullach near Munich, has taken over the operative business of the MANN+HUMMEL subsidiary ProTec, with headquarters in Bensheim. With this acquisition the traditional family enterprise has consequently expanded its division Schoeller Plast Industries in the field of plastics processing and recycling and has also taken on all employees from MANN+HUMMEL ProTec GmbH. The takeover comes into force on 30th April 2012.

Bensheim, 30th March 2012 – The filtration specialist MANN+HUMMEL is selling its subsidiary MANN+HUMMEL ProTec GmbH as per 30th April 2012 to OHL Engineering, a subsidiary of Schoeller Plast Industries. The present Managing Director of MANN+HUMMEL ProTec GmbH, Mr Alfred Kimpel and Mr Arnold Jahn, CEO of Schoeller Plast Industries will jointly be Managing Directors of the new enterprise which will trade under the name ProTec and carry both SOMOS and OHL brands. The buyer will take on all MANN+HUMMEL ProTec employees.

“Schoeller Plast Industries is very interested in our well-rehearsed team, our operative experience and know-how”, says Alfred Kimpel. “With this new company we will achieve a strategically important expansion of our existing businesses with the aim to expand on European and worldwide markets with high grade components and units “Made in Germany” ”, add Arnold Jahn and Christian Uhlik, Managing Director of the Schoeller Holding.

Schoeller Plast Industries operates worldwide and is a well-respected partner in the industry with reusable packaging systems, caps for drinks’ bottles and the processing and recycling of plastics. OHL Engineering designs and promotes turnkey PET bottle-to-bottle recycling units.

In 2011 MANN+HUMMEL ProTec increased its turnover by around 22 per cent to approx. 20 million Euro and ranks internationally among the most well-respected vendors of devices and systems for material handling in the plastics industry.

“ProTec has now found its new partner of choice in Schoeller Plast Industries. This gives the company strategic perspectives which were not possible in combination with a filtration expert”, comments MANN+HUMMEL Managing Director Frank Jehle to the sale.

The company develops, configures and sells solutions for all of the plastics processes used today. The brand names SOMOS and VOLLMAR belong to the product portfolio. With over 50 agencies across the globe, the material handling specialist attends to customers from various sectors; from foodstuffs, via automobiles through to the toys industry. In the new combination with Schoeller Plast Industries, the product line will be extended into the fields of plant engineering and process technology for the optimisation of the material characteristics of PET and for the recycling of PET.
