JOB TITLE: Credu Machynlleth – Temporary/Relief Worker
SALARY: £8.25 per hour
REPORTING TO: Shop/Hub Management
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Volunteers on shift
This is a temporary post covering short term staff illness with immediate start.
· Must be available to work 15 hours per week over 2 days between 9 – 5pm as agreed by Line Manager. (30 minutes unpaid break)
· Immediate start from week commencing 26th June until the 22nd July and 2 weeks work commencing 14th and 21st August 2017 to cover annual leave.
· In addition to the dates above we may also require you to work weeks commencing 24thJuly, 31stJuly and 7th August. This will be confirmed by no later than 21st July 2017.
· There may be other shifts available in the future.
OVERVIEW OF ROLE:
This role is an opportunity for an enthusiastic, creative and highly motivated individual to assist with the day to day running of our charity shop and Carers hub in Machynlleth. The ability to multi task and communicate effectively while offering a warm and friendly service to our customers is essential.
MAIN TASKS:
· To assist with the day to day responsibilities of running the shop and hub during trading hours.
· In line with the Shop Operating Manual fully act and take responsibility of the duties assigned to you as a key holder.
· You will be responsible for the preparation, sorting and pricing of donated stock items in order to generate income and maximise sales of donated and bought in stock.
· Providing excellent customer service is essential with creative flair and an eye for detail, you will be highly selective and organised when sorting, pricing and presenting stock.
· You will be required to work on the shop floor on your own in the absence of any volunteers - offering a high level of customer service at all times.
· Responsible for cash handling, using the till and cashing up end of the day.
· To motivate and inspire all volunteers to carry out their tasks in an enjoyable manner ensuring they get the best possible experience from their volunteering role and feel valued within the organisation. Delegating responsibilities and empowering volunteers with specific areas of interests where appropriate.
· To assist with sorting and preparation of recycled items to maximise income ready for collection on agreed days as set by the external collection company.
· Create and maintain window displays and internal shop floor displays.
· Achieve and maintain high standards of housekeeping, organisation and cleanliness throughout the shop premises.
· Ensure all money is securely locked in safe and property left secure overnight. Banking and updating financial records & reports.
· The rota will be planned and implemented between yourself and Managers to ensure the shop has adequate cover at all times.
· You will play an active role in the local community through building and developing relationships in order to promote and support the carer hub.
· This role involves physical and manual handling of donated bags and boxes. The ability to carry donated items downstairs from the shop floor to the sorting area and carry prepared stock back up to the shop floor several times a day is essential part of the role.

ESSENTIAL:
· Experience in retail management or supervisory role
· Ability and commitment to working as part of a team, supporting other members of the organisation in a whole organisation approach to delivering high quality services
· Excellent customer service skills
· Excellent organisational and time management skills
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Enthusiastic and self-motivated and a ‘can do’ attitude, flexible and willing to learn
· Experience of using Microsoft Word, Excel, Email, Social Media (e.g. Facebook) and internet plus bespoke databases.
· Be available to work bank holidays and Saturdays on a rota basis
DESIRABLE:
· Welsh speaker
· Experience in charity retail management
· Experience of recruitment and management of volunteers
· Experience in community fundraising
· Understanding of Carers and Young Carers issues
