Dear Parents/Guardians:

Senior Kindergarten for September 2011

Junior Kindergarten registration for September begins on February 9th. There was a form sent home in important bags that needs to be completed and returned to school as soon as possible so I can hand these in to the office. This is to indicate your preference for the placement of your child for the fall and will be on a first come, first served basis. Please ensure these forms are returned to me before Tuesday, February 1st.

JK Parent Observations

JK parent observations will take place in February. This will give you the opportunity to observe your child’s progress in the early stages of the Kindergarten program and to see your child in action while we participate in our regular Kindergarten activities. I have sent home a calendar with a schedule that I hope works for everyone. I have placed observations on the day that your child will be doing their VIP! There is also section on the bottom of this form that is to be cut off and returned to me to confirm the date of your observation. Please send these back as soon as possible. I am looking forward to having you all in the classroom to see all the great things we do every day!!

February VIP

We will be having our next round of VIP this month! Please ensure that your child comes to school prepared on their day by bringing back the Name Book and two rhyming items from home. See the February VIP calendar for your date and the VIP information page for more details. The children have done a fabulous job with VIP so far and they seem to really be enjoying it! This month you get to see them in action!!

Character Skill Assembly

We will be having our character assembly on Thursday, February 24th at 9:30am in the library. Our character traits that we will be focusing on will be honesty and trustworthiness. All are welcome to attend this assembly and parents of students who are receiving this award will be notified later in February. Congratulations to Sienna and PJ who were our winners for respect in January!

Special Days

We will be having some spirit days coming up at Lawfield in February. On February 14th for Valentine’s Day, students are encouraged to wear pink. More details about Valentine’s Day will be sent home closer to the day. On Friday, February 25th we will be having a crazy hair day!! We also have a student who is leaving us. We will be making some cards this week and having a party for him on Monday, January 31st. We have also been working on a healthy choices unit and will be learning how to make fruit salad on Monday, January 31st. If any families would be willing to bring in some fruit to share with the class on Monday for this special day, please let me know.
