[Having a visit of a professional career advisor]

  • Students should agree on topic of interests
  • They are asked to prepare some questions related to at least two topics
  • Students are asked to make notes to later be able to translate and sum up the most

Activities / Organization
Agree on certain topics given by the career advisor. What kind of questions come up? For example:
Who helps me to finance my education?
What kind of options do I have if I don`t want to study right after my graduation)? A gap year?
When do I have to apply? Are there any deadlines?
What if I want to study abroad?
In terms of career choice, are there any reliable predictions I can trust?

Formulate three to five questions related to the topics agreed on? / Individually and then in class
While listening to the career advisor make notes of some valuable information. Check whether all your questions have been answered. If not, pose some questions at the end of the talk. / Plenum
First think of and then create possible ways to sum up the most important findings and translate them into English. With the help of graphic elements make it as understandable as possible. / In groups

Present and explain your mind map or a similar overview of memorable findings. / In groups
Do some research. Compare the findings of one topic of interest with information from the internet. Are there any differences. Do the students in Spain, for example, have the same opportunities / obligations as their German counterparts? Present your results next lesson in class. / Homework
