AYSO Board Meeting

Carrie and Joanne attended area meeting.Area playoffs in Walnut Grove. Jan 4th/5th
VIP tournament: was a great event.
AYSO Section meeting is being branded as AYSO Expo to encourage higher attendance.
Please reserve March 21at – 23rd 2014, it is being held in Las Vegas, CA
It will focus on AYSO Training, and info. Please confirm to Joanne if you plan to attend. Discounted pricing available to Febuary.
Area CVPA is beginning to check on coaching certifications & details for playoffs teams.
Vassillis Dalakas has agreed to be Coaching Administrator, he will be responsible for team balancing, evaluations, team statistics
Discussion about holding a quality program.
Three assistant registrars have been found. Working on getting them trained.
North Park had issues with youth ref abuse. To help curb the abuse, no youth refs were allowed to ref one week, only club linesman allowed who were untrained.
Joanne suggests U10 teams take turns adopting the ref station next year for volunteer points. Snacks and small perks for the refs.
Nichiole Shelby has agreed to take over as concessions director.
YSC Meeting attended by Bob and Joanne. Discussed Bradley Park renovation, developmental area. Grants are easier to get in the low income. $7M of $14M will come from grants. A blueprint of what the park will look like. Changed a little. Parking in the middle of the park. Add a turf field. Make the football field turf. Off Linda Vista- baseball fields will be turf.
Near the Caretakers quarters, going to add parking. Near creek going to add a walking trail. Parking on Pacific Street will be head in parking.
Discussion about the Arena during meeting YSC meeting. During the meeting John Gomez asked Bob to go to the parking lot to settle a dispute “like men in the parking lot”. Nanette, CVPA very concerned about inappropriate behavior.
City of SM granted request for January Arena start date. Want to hand out forms this Saturday to start enrollment.
Michelle will have credit card forms Saturday in the concessions area.
Treasurers report given:
Deposit in Bank for Fall 2014: $7000 so far.
Core still owes Matrix for credit card deposits:
Concessions has done well, for what it is with limited trailer.
Jason G to cancel porta potty from Diamond (Richland & Paloma sites)
Standings: need to go over standings, there is some inconsistencies in U10 boys and U12 girls still needs games played in the regular season.
Arena Spring: Nanette motioned to charge $36 to January 1 then $45 after. With
VIP: $30 per player. Nichole second, motion carried unanimously.
Playoffs:
Coach’s meeting: No teams will make the semi-finals unless they are clear with area guidelines and area applications filled out.
Bob Crain should be able to lead the U9 extra program – more of a club program with lower fees playing in a extra circuit.
Cruzanne will pick teams/uniforms for area wide consistency. Refs will be encouraged to give their time to the core program by reffing the game after them.
U8 All Star/Extra tryout planned: 1 or 2 kids who are all-star caliber will be nominated by the coaches.
11/20 at Las Posas. Check in at 5:30 to 7:30p. Game to start at 6 PM.
5 v 5. Juan Ambriz- help with teams and coaching for the boys
Walnut Grove move in- moving Sunday the 24th back to Walnut Grove if city gives the go ahead for that date.
Area playoffs are planned for the 1st weekend of December
A Survey is going out this week to Jamboree parents to gage success of the program.
Trailer: Should we proceed with the wrap as planned late last year? All in attendance agreed it was worth doing. They can do it after AYSO season, but before the tournament.
Round table discussions:
Ben T. Suggests we need a written emergency plan. Safety Director will do a presentation regarding disaster preparedness in the January board meeting.
Paul Van Es- Proposes a Salsa and chilli cookoff. And potluck planned for 2014 season, with basket fundraiser to celebrate AYSO’s 50 years.
Brandon will help organize- official chili judge, salsa judge, trophies, will invite sponsors and alumni to attend.
Matrix season winding down.U19 college showcase events happening. College recruiters are at event: for U19-girls, U17-boys, U16-boys. Presidio started SD develop academy and is finishing its first year.
State cup is a great event for showcasing talent.
December no board meeting- Rosa will host a party gathering.
Carrie: fundraiser possibility: photographer would like to take pictures during allstars, not appropriate as it is a one day event run by area staff. They are welcome to come out for Select but only half the teams will play at home.
