Community Colleges Information Sheet

If you plan to attend a community college right out of high school, you do not need to take the SAT or ACT tests.

For students planning to attend Modesto Junior College, it is a good idea to take a class during the spring so that you can register before other high school graduates who do not have any credits. To apply for a class, visit . Keep in mind it will be difficult to get a class because they are very impacted. You may want to consider going to Columbia College (near Sonora) once you graduate because you would get the classes you need easier than at MJC.

Financial Aid Mrs. Argain will be in your Government class sometime this Decemberto verify your social security number. This will allow MCS to electronically submit your Cal grants. The FAFSA is the one form your family will fill out together. The time frame is January 1st – March 2nd of your senior year. FAFSA can help you qualify for federal grants (free money that does not have to be repaid). The website is . It is highlyrecommended tocomplete this by the end of January.

To research scholarships that available nationwide, go to your Naviance account and click on the “Colleges” tab. Once there, you will see a link called “National Scholarship Search” on the bottom right hand side of the page.
