WAKE FOREST HIGH SCHOOL
CHEERLEADING TRYOUTS
2015-2016
Thank you for showing an interest in becoming part of the WFHS Cheerleading program. We are looking for dedicated, enthusiastic, hardworking, and motivated people.
We plan on having an exciting and challenging season. The main focus of any high school team is to encourage school spirit and cheer on its teams.
If you decide to tryout, it is extremely important that you and your parents discuss the financial and time commitment that this sport takes. The regular football season will last from August to December. There will only be one tryout held. If you do not feel that you will be able to dedicate the time and energy to cheering, you may want to reconsider trying out. It is very frustrating to prepare for an event and then have people not show up.
Everyone needs to complete a new participation form. Your physical is only good for a year. You can check your physical date, which should be on file with your Athletic Department. Eighth graders should get their physicals from their Athletic Departments before the end of the school year.
TRYOUTS
· All forms must be completed …. See check list
· NO FINES
· There will be 2 tryouts this season. 1 for Football and 1 for Basketball. Tumbling is a priority skill. You must have standing Backhand Spring or running tumbling for Basketball tryouts.
· White T-shirt(plain) and Red shorts on the Final day of tryouts
o Anyone who doesn’t make varsity and wants to be considered for JV must come back to JV Cuts.
· Requirements: cheer/chant, dance, jumps/combination jumps, tumbling, run ½ mile in under 5 minutes , possible interview, a good attitude, and commitment. You must be at tryouts! This is a tryout, not a camp. We will not spot tumbling or spend a great deal of time “teaching” technique.
