Conahy Notes
HURLING
The intermediate hurlers lost out to Tullaroan in their fourth round game of the Michael Lyng Motors Intermediate Hurling League. Tullaroan’s physical strength proved to be their major asset as they dominated the close exchanges throughout the majority of the game. Conahy battled hard all through but could not keep the Tullaroan attack at bay. Tullaroan led by 1-11 to 0-6 at half-time but it was in the third quarter that the major damage was done as they scored three goals to kill the game as a contest. Conahy showed great fighting spirit in the final stages to close the gap but it was not enough, as Tullaroan won out by 4-19 to 2-12.
The junior B hurlers were also second best to Lisdowney in the Northern Junior B League in Jenkinstown on Wednesday last. The visitors led by 1-7 to 0-4 at half-time and a second goal scored midway through the second half appeared to end the game as a contest. But Conahy showed great heart and though the final result was never in doubt, they were rewarded for their efforts with a Michael Bergin goal. In the end, Lisdowney secured the two league points by winning 2-14 to 1-6.

Their next game was against Lisdowney, with the locals securing a good win. Finally, their last game was against a very strong Clough-Ballacolla and lost out again. However, they undoubtedly gave a very good account of themselves in all games and had a very enjoyable evening out. Many thanks go to St. Patrick’s Ballyragget for their hospitality.
