CONTRIBUTION TO KNOWLEDGE
Dr. Obasola Kehinde E specializes in African and Comparative Study of Religion. His major contribution centres on the challenges of globalization and modernity to African cultural heritage. In this age when modernity is encroaching on the fabrics of African social hegemony, he underscores the role African culture can play in bringing about social development as demonstrated in his paper titled “The Role of Ethics in Global Discourse and its Implicationfor African Social Hegemony”.
His research interest is collaborative and multidisciplinary in nature which enables him to explore issues relating to abortion, tourism, gender, environmental issues, ethical and philosophical issues from the African religious view point.
He has participated in various discussions on the environment and the green house effect at different fora. He advocates for sustainable environment through cultural practices which areakin to human social conditions. He believes strongly in ethical foundations as basis for societal growth as depicted in some of his publications such as: “Ethico- Religious Perspective of Cloning: Challenges for Contemporary Society”; “An Ethical Perspective of Homosexuality among the AfricanPeople” and so on.
Consequently, he has published extensively in both national and international Journals and he is a member of various professional bodies such as, the Nigerian Association for the Study of Religion (NASR) and Africa Association for the Study of Religion (ASSR). His research interest centres around African Religion; Sociology of Religion, Philosophy of Religion and Religion and Science which he has been teaching and as well mentoring students.
