Congratulations Class of 2018!!!

The Commencement Ceremony for graduating students will be held at 2:30 PM on FridayMay 25, 2018 at Alico Arenaon the Florida Gulf Coast University campus. In order to participate in the ceremony, graduating students must attend both mandatory rehearsals.

Tickets

Each graduating student will receive FOUR tickets to the Commencement Ceremony. A graduating student does not need a ticket in order to participate in the ceremony. UP to an additionalSIX tickets can be purchased on a first come first serve basisat a cost of $5.00 per ticket. Each request must include student name, student number, and the number of additional tickets requested. Reserving seats is notpermitted. ALL fines, fees, uniforms etc. must be turned in or paid by May18, 2018. For information please go to the principal office.

Project Graduation

Project Graduation will be held at the Naples YMCA ( on Friday May 25, 2018 from 11:00pm to 4:00am. Information will be on our website and given to students in class.

Dress Code for Graduating Students

Students may not wear sunglasses. Nothing may be attached to or be worn over graduation caps and gowns. The graduation cap is worn parallel to the groundNO DECORATING OF CAPS WILL BE PERMITTED. The tassel hangs on the right side until the very end of the ceremony.

Young ladies should wear a dress or dress pants that are not longer than the graduation gown along with dress shoes. Tennis shoes or flip-flops are not permitted. Although females (unlike males) can wear sandals, the sandals must be dressy. One’s heels should not prevent one from safely and easily using stairs and walking.

Young men should wear collared, buttoned shirts-ties. Ties are strongly encouraged. Young men should wear dress slacks that are dark in color (black) along with dress shoes, Blue jeans (denim)are notallowed, tennis shoes or sandalsare not permitted.

Be Respectful

It is very important for all graduating seniors and guests to have a respectful ceremony allowing each senior to hear his/hers name read as each senior walks across the stage. Therefore, it is critical to refrain from any action that would distract the other graduates or guests during the ceremony until after the names have been read. In our contract with Alico Arena the following items are not permitted inside of or near the facility; weapons, glitter, spray glitter, silly string, helium balloons, latex material, animals, paint, confetti, large handbags, backpacks, briefcases, shopping bags, water coolers, ice chests, food or beverage, alcohol, laser pointers, or air horns. The use or possession of any of these items by seniors or their guests can result in the loss of our future use of the FGCU Arena.In order to protect the dignity and visibility of the ceremony, guests are not permitted on the main floor. A professional photographer contracted by GCHS will take a picture of each graduate as a diploma is presented. Out of respect for each member of the class, please turn off cell phones and refrain from applause until each graduate has been recognized. Please do not shout or whistle.

Graduates Arrival to the Ceremony

Graduating students must arrive at Alico Arena at FGCU no later than 1:30PM on the afternoon of the ceremony. Students are not to use the main entrance to the Arena. Seniorsshould use the outside stairs and report to the Auxiliary Gym on the 2nd floor of the Arena.

Tell Your Guests

Guests are encouraged to arrive by 1:30. Doors to the arena facility will open at 1:30 or shortly thereafter. If guests arrive before the doors open, they will need to wait outside. All guests gain access to seating from the second floor, there will be no reserving or holding seats permitted.. Guests needing the elevator will enter the lobby and go to the right. Doors close at 2:30. Latecomers will not be admitted until the completion of the ceremony. Every guest needs a ticket, even small children except those sitting on laps. Flowers will also be sold for your convenience in the lobby.
