Presentations of Games and Customs:

·  Romania

o  Video of students celebrating a spring ritual of invoking the sun, rain and moon

o  PowerPoint presentation of the custom of Spring Amulets

§  Similarities to Bulgarian customs

§  Examples of amulets

o  Singing a spring song together

o  “Bridge” game

§  The person trapped at the end of the song has to perform a “punishment” chosen by another player—ex. Jump like a frog, sing a song…

·  Italy

o  Days of the week

§  A hand-clapping game using the days of the week

o  Sheep and Wolf

§  A tag game where the wolf is “it” and the sheep try to avoid him

§  A sheep who is tagged can be “saved” by another sheep passing between his legs

o  1, 2, 3, Star

§  One person has his back to the other players

§  He counts 1,2,3 star. During the 1,2,3, the other plays move towards the counter. On “star” they must freeze. If the counter sees anyone moving, that person must go back to the starting point

§  The first person to reach the counter wins

o  Queen, Queen

§  Each person takes turns asking the queen how many steps he can take to reach her castle

§  The queen says how many and what type of step he may take—ex. Two small steps; 1 jump; …

·  Lithuania

o  Counting game

§  The object is to count to 20 one person at a time

§  If two people say the next number at the same time, the count starts back at 1

o  Hand game

§  This is a game to play at the desk involving a pattern of hand motions including: clapping, elbow on the table, fist on the table and brushing the table with your hands

o  Finding a way to share the great resources that are in the media library

§  Insert these pictures and documents into articles that will then be published by Saulius

o  Questions about what types of books will be made during the project
