High Tunnel System Construction
Prepare site according to Manufacturer’s instructions.
Lay out building location according to an approved site plan.
Assemble high tunnel structure according to manufacturer’s instructions.
Install supporting practices as required, according to job sheets and/or construction drawings
provided.
Operation and Maintenance
Crops in High tunnel must be grown in soil profile. DO NOT use High Tunnel for crops grown in
benches or pots.
Periodically inspect structure and cover for damage. Reinstall or repair promptly.
Follow manufacturer’s instructions for operation and maintenance of the high tunnel structure.
Remove or manage snow loads immediately to ensure integrity of structure for the lifespan of the
conservation practice .
Avoid damage to structure from equipment operated in and around the seasonal high tunnel.
Inspect runoff control measures after every significant rainfall event. Repair promptly.

Practice Installation Guidelines
It shall be the responsibility of the landowner to obtain all necessary permits and/or rights, and
to comply with all ordinances and laws pertaining to this installation.
Practice designs MUST follow manufacturer’s warranty specifications.
Installation shall be in accordance with the manufacturer’s requirements and specifications.
Use manufacturer’s instructions for installation and implementation
requirements foroperation and maintenance.
The Landowner/operator acknowledges that:
He/she has received a copy of the practice standard and the implementation requirements. The implementation requirement includes the Operation and Maintenance plan, and that he/she has an
understanding of the contents and the requirements.
He/she has or will obtain all of the necessary permits prior to construction.

Adherence to the Operation and Maintenance plan of the installed work is necessary for
proper performance during the practice lifespan
The practice lifespan will be stated on the Manufacturer’s Warranty.
NRCS planner shall be contacted after installation and completion for practice certification.
Site location has been evaluated for conditions that may cause high tunnel to fail such as offsite
drainage, concentrated wind areas, falling trees, etc.
