Team Bath AC selection policy
1Overview
Team Bath AC competes in the YDL Lower Age Group [for under 13s and 15s] and the Avon League [for all age groups ]. The aim of the club is to do as well as possible in both competitions, while at the same time giving athletes the opportunity to gain experience of competition in not only the athletic disciplines in which they are training, but also in other disciplines they may have experience of and may wish to compete in .
Selection must always comply with the rules of the YDL and Avon League and of UK
Athletics.
2Selectioncriteria
2.1To be considered for selection athletesmust
- Have paid their Team Bath AC membershipfee
- Have a current England Athletics registrationnumber
- Have signed the Club's Code ofConduct
- Comply with the Club's Code ofConduct
- Have returned the Club's availability form to the Track & Field TeamManager.
- Be in the appropriate age groups for thecompetition
- Priority will be given to athleteswho
- Comply with theabove
- Are first claim athletes forTBAC
- Reply to selection /availability requestspromptly
- Have appropriate Power of 10 registered entries for events for which they wish to be considered [ from open meetings or school/county events ] if appropriate for their age group [ie under 13 , 15 , 17 and20]
- Are prepared to compete in events that are not their first choice as well as their primary events asrequired
- Have shown commitment to training at TBAC Tue/Thurs sessions for their chosenevent
- Are committed to be available for more than half the season'smatches.
- Be prepared to run in therelays
- The Track & Field manager's decision isfinal.
3The AvonLeague
- 5 places for boys and 5 for girls are available in the under 11 Quad Kidscompetition.
- 3 places are available for each event in the age groups from under 13 to Master/veteranlevel
- Athletes will be chosen according to the criteria at 2 above, but it is hoped that the 3rd place will give opportunities for less experienced athletes to gain competition experience.
- Athletes can compete in no more than 4 events per match [including at least one relay]
- Athletes must tell the Team Manager when they are leaving the match venueand
- Athletes may be expected to compete in events which may not be their first choice event and in relays unless there are technical or health/injury reasons for not competing in particular events.
- Those athletes selected for relay teams should report to the Team Manager's desk/tent at the appropriate time to collect batons , meet their relay team members and practise batonchanges
4Youth DevelopmentLeague
4.1Lower Age Group [under 13s and under 15s]
- Thereare2placespereventineachoftheunder13andunder15maleandfemale categories
- Athletes can compete in a maximum of 4 events [ including at least one relay]
- Each event has an A and a B athlete and A slots are generally going to be filled by the highest performing athlete available in that event. The B position should be taken by the next best available athlete in thatdiscipline.
- Athletes will be expected to compete in events which are not their first choice event and in relays if selected unless there are medical grounds for not competing in a particular event or if the event in question requires technical skills not possessed by the athlete [ie in events such as high jump, hurdles, pole vault and hammerthrow]
- Athletes must tell the T&F Team Manager when they are leaving the matchvenue
- All athletes selected for the relay teams should report to the Team Manager's desk/ tent to collect batons and meet with the rest of their relay team and to practice batonchanges.
- Upper Age Group [ under 17s and under 20s]
Team Bath athletes compete in a composite Team Avon composite team and team selection is by the Team Avon managers.
