Synergizing in 3rd Grade:

Reading & Writing-We continue with our read-aloud entitled MuggieMaggies. Through our reading, we’ll discuss what good readers do- first: ask questions, make mental moviesand read with a storyteller’s voice. We’ll also be working on predictions that are grounded in text.In Writing we will be looking at our small moment and “Hooking our Reader.”

Social Studies–We continue to read about people who’ve shown good citizenship and are learning about the types of contributions they have made to help others. We have learned all 7 Habits and continue to practice implementing them throughout our day. We will Celebrate Freedom all week.

Math- Math strategies and properties help us to be great problem solvers. We are learning the properties of addition and adding 2 and 3 digit numbers. Please practice basic addition and subtraction facts at home. There are many fun ways to practice, such as using math apps, flipping cards, and rolling dice!

Science-What is Matter? We are learning about the 3 states of matter and the observable and measurable properties of matter.

Being Proactive:

  • Be sure to read the Leader in Me Newsletter in today’s Green Folder!
  • Review agenda and summary card every night.
  • Bring a dry, healthy snack for snack time.
  • Water bottles must have a sport top if used in the classroom.
  • Check Green Folders on Thursdays for school notes and graded papers.
  • Please make sure your child’s coats and jackets are labeled with his/her name!
  • LUNCH: please send all needed utensils and napkins with your child if he or she is bringing his or her lunch from home, thank you!
