Background

The Payroll Developers Contribution working group is a special interest group linked to the CIWG – the key body for payroll software developers and data standard contributions.

The ongoing focus will be on implementation and readiness.

SIPO receives an update of contributions activities for broader distribution.

Compliance / Compliance activity over the next 4-6 months will focus on Help, Education and Support
-  Ensure all big ticket items are in place post July 1 2015: Certification/Induction
-  Understanding that some employers may not be ready post 1 July 2015
-  ATO needs to know how to put strategies in place post July 1 2015
-  Message form Employer “I am not ready- can I have an extension?”
-  As long as the employer can be seen to be moving in the right direction towards compliance/ having a timeline for implementation.
-  ATO won’t go heavy handed just yet as long as employers are on track.
Focus:
·  Compliance activity over the next 6 months
·  Systems issues
·  Analysing metrics and commonalities - regional areas to target rather than individual compliance management
·  Individual compliance action to start by end of October 2015 – this gives a chance to allow 2 periods of processing – then able to address who is trying to do the right thing. / Chris Denney
