Forms can be submitted online at
Regulations Governing Flag Racing
- There will be a ‘cask’ and five pegs with detachable flags on each.
- Distance between pegs to be 5.5 mtrs and from ‘cask to first peg to be 8.25 mtrs
- Spacing between lines of pegs to be 10.96 metres and there will be no limit to the lines of pegs used.
- The ‘cask’ to be a peg with a container attached to the top to collect the flags. Height of the peg when driven in to be 1.5 metres.
- Each competitor must take the farthest peg first.
- If ‘cask’ is knocked down by competitor, he/she is to re-erect it before continuing.
- Should the competitor fail to lodge any flags in the ‘cask’, they must dismount, pick up flag, mount, and replace flag in ‘cask’ and finish.
- Each competitor must keep to their own line of pegs. A ‘line of demarcation’ will be drawn or shown 5.5 metres on each side of each line of pegs, and each competitor must keep within these lines. Crossing these lines will mean disqualification. Should a competitor, while crossing these lines, in doing so, interfere in any degree with another line of pegs, another competitor or their horse, the heat, semi-final or final in which the infringement occurs will be stopped as speedily as possible and re-run, but the competitor causing the infringement will be automatically disqualified.
- Only winners of heats to be eligible to compete in semi-finals.
- Should any owner have more than one horse in the final he/she is to provide another rider.
- The rider of the first HORSE past the winning post will be declared the winner only when he/she is mounted on their horse, has the 5 pegs in the ‘cask’ and has completed the course in accordance with these rules.
- If in the event of all competitors in the final being disqualified for infringement of the rules as set out above, the final must be re-run to determine a winner and place getters.
