Science Fair Countdown!

By now, most students should have begun their experiments and collected some data. Over the next week, there will be some class time for students to work on their final reports and displays.

Please make sure to contact me directly if you need materials or equipment. We can arrange to work on the project together after class next week to finish off your experiments.

Science Fair Projects (poster board and report) must be passed in by 3:15 pm on Tuesday, March 9.

10 points of the project mark have already been assigned for the topic selection.

Points assigned for the report and display are outlined on the rubric attached.

Please note that Bristol board displays should be attached to a firm cardboard back to allow them to stand freely. (A “three panel” fold makes the most stable display.) Displays are a summary of the report contents, with greater visual interest.

For this science fair, displays should be no bigger than 2standard size Bristol boards. Each display should stand freely on a table top. Models or equipment may be brought in, but must be pre-approved for safety reasons.

The judging criteria is also attached. Remember that the judging is solely for selecting winning participants for the district science fair – not for grades in science 8!
