ART AWARDS
2018-2019 entry
Art awards are available on entry at 11+, 13+ and 16+ to pupils with considerable artistic ability who also have a definite commitment to art at the School. Art award holders must study GCSE or A Levelart as appropriate. They will have also satisfied the general entrance requirements of the School. Internal candidates and current award holders are automatically reassessed at 13+ and 16+ and therefore there is no need for a separate application.
11+ & 13+ Applications
Candidates are required to submit a portfolio containing examples of their art works created over the last school year.
The presented portfolio should contain evidence of the following:
- Art work done at school in the preceding 12 months
- Five representational observational drawings executed in a variety of media and scale
- Three representational observed works in colour
- Work done outside of the school curriculum
- Expressive, imaginative, creative works. Photographs of any 3D work
Above all the portfolio should express the skills of the artist in the broadest manner possible.
Initial candidate selection will be made by looking through the portfolios after which successful candidates will be invited to attend a scholarship interview and to sit a number of tests.
Portfolios for initial candidate selection must be delivered to the Senior School Reception no later than 4pm on Friday12 January 2018. [Please note that candidates do not have to spend lots of money presenting their work. The key focus should be the work and enthusiasm of the applicant]
Shortlisted candidates will be required to come to the Art Department at the School during the afternoon of Friday 26January 2018where there will be a drawing (observation) test and an imaginative drawing test, each of about one hour’s duration. Shortlisted candidates will also have an informal talk with the Head of Art about their work.
This does not apply to Sixth Form candidates whose applications will be dealt with on an individual basis.
16+ Application
A candidate is required to submit their entire GCSE portfolio for assessment prior to their Sixth Form entrance interview. The candidate could be required to attend on Friday 26 January 2018 or may be seen by the Head of Art as part of the Sixth Form Interview process, subject to timings.
HOW TO APPLY
If you would like your child to be considered for the art award, please complete the application form and return it to the Admissions Office, Woodbridge School, by Friday 12 January 2018.
Art folders must be delivered to Reception at the Senior School by 4pm on Friday 12 January 2018. This deadline does not apply to Sixth Form candidates.
All applicants must be registered for entry to Woodbridge School.
