Overview
The Direct Aid Program (DAP) is a community development program funded by the Australian Government. The program aims to support projects with a strong development focus that complement Australia's broader aid program which contributes to sustainable economic growth and poverty reduction.
Application Details
- Provide contact details for the person who will manage the project, including telephone number, mobile number and email address.
- State how much you are applying for. This amount should be the same as the quotes and no more than TOP8000.
- Projects seeking more than TOP8000 should contact the DAP Coordinator for special consideration.
Attachments
Please attach the following to your application, where possible:
- Written references from people involved (town officers, relevant Government Ministries, etc).
- Proposed budget and original invoices from suppliers.
- Project plans, timeline, photos, needs assessments.
Project Details
DAP activities should be of high development impact. We will consider projects:
- in areas of poverty alleviation, community health, education, agriculture, fisheries and water, gender equality and empowerment of women and girls, youth and people with disabilities;
- where applicants and communities make a contribution in labour, materials, transport or cash;
- sporting activities with a community development focus;
- human rights engagement;
- that enhance educational and cultural exchanges and people-to-people links;
- that are achievable and have sustainable outcomes
We will generally NOT fund the following:
- cash grants, grants programs, micro-credit schemes or commercial ventures
- purchase of livestock or major assets, eg vehicles
- improvements to an individual’s house or land
- Australian or overseas study or sports tours
- routine, recurring running costs and administrative expenses including office rental and utility costs, spare parts, routine maintenance and reports, or staff salaries
Proposals will be approved or rejected on the basis of:
- the costs and the development benefits of the proposal
- achievable and sustainable outcomes
- soundness of the project's objectives and design
- the practicability of the proposed implementation arrangements, and
- whether the project conforms with the objectives of the Direct Aid Program
