Dear Directors and Elementary Principals,

It is with great pleasure that the Marian Baker School invites you to the AASCA Elementary Principal Conference. The purpose of the conference is to provide a forum in which the Principals may discuss best practices, administrative concerns and challenges, as well as innovations for the twenty first century classroom.

The conference will be hosted by the Marian Baker School in San Jose, Costa Rica November 5-8, with the 5th and 8th being travel days. The Hotel Le Bergerac www.bergerachotel.com is a small 25 room hotel located in Los Yoses about 20 minutes from the school. They offer a continental breakfast.

Single Room $ 71.20

Double room (two double beds) $ 82.50

In addition, we have 4 single rooms and one double room in Administrators’ houses which are available for participants of schools with tight budgets.

The format will have discussions focusing on best practices - sharing what works well for each of you and areas in which you want to explore to get tips. Please note in order of priority, the topics in which you are most interested. Number one is of most interest and five is of least interest.

Leadership styles

Curriculum – What are effective ways to review, revise and monitor it?

Instruction and Learning - What are specific ways to help teachers address the varying needs of their students through differentiation?

Supervision - How can we assure our supervision is positively affecting student learning?

Guidance/Social Emotional Development -

Measurement and Evaluation - The use of MAP test to guide instruction.

Fostering positive relationships with parents

Technology - What do the students and teachers need to know for tomorrow?

Physical Abilities - Are the students deprived of nature and outdoor play? If so,

what can we do?

Instructional strategies - Share effective instructional practices that have been

observed in your school.
