Health Effects

Swallowed: The product is irritating and corrosive to the gastro-intestinal tract.

Eye: Moderate to severe irritant

Skin: Prolonged exposure can lead to drying of skin and may lead to dermatitis.

Inhaled: Inhalation can cause irritation of the nose throat and lungs. Not normally a hazard due to the physical form of the product.

First Aid

For advice, contact a Poisons Information Centre (Phone 131126) or a doctor.

Swallowed: If swallowed, do NOT induce vomiting.

Eye: If in eyes, hold eyelids apart and flush the eye continuously with running water. Continue flushing until advised to stop by the Poisons Information Centre or a doctor, or for at least 15 minutes.

Skin: If skin or hair contact occurs, remove contaminated clothing and flush skin and hair with running water.

Inhaled: Remove to fresh air. If required seek medical attention.

Advice to Doctor

Treat symptomatically for a moderately alkaline powder.

PRECAUTIONS FOR USE

------

Exposure Standards: None established. Should be considered a ‘Nuisance

Particulate’ - 10 mg/m3 measured as inspirable dust (TWA) .

Engineering Controls: Good natural ventilation is adequate under normal operating conditions.

Personal Protection: No special equipment is needed when handling small quantities except rubber gloves if skin is sensitive. If handling large amounts safety glasses or goggles are recommended.

Flammability: Not flammable under conditions of use.

SAFE HANDLING INFORMATION

Storage and Transport: Store in a cool dry place. Do not store near strong acids or foodstuffs. Not defined as Dangerous Goods Code.

Spills and Disposal: Scoop up for recovery or disposal. Avoid contact with skin and

eyes, and avoid generating dust. For major spills wear protective equipment to protect against skin and eye contact and inhalation of dust. Minor amounts can be washed

away with plenty of water.

Fire/Explosion Hazard: Non combustible. If in a fire may decompose on heating and produce fumes of sulphur oxides , oxygen and carbon dioxide.

OTHER INFORMATION: All surfactants are fully biodegradable.
