Ductwork: Vertical and horizontal ductwork passing through floors and fire rated walls shall have space between duct and sleeve filled with an approved, fire rated caulk.

PART - EXECUTION

EXAMINATION

Verification of Conditions:

Confirm compatibility of surfaces to receive sealant materials. Verify that openings are sound, clean, dry, and ready to receive application of sealants. Verify that penetration elements are securely fixed and properly located, with a minimum of 1/2inch space between penetrations and surfaces of openings. Beginning of installation means acceptance of existing conditions.

PREPARATION

General Requirements: Protect adjacent surfaces and equipment from damage. Clean contact surfaces of dirt, dust, grease, oil, loose material or other matter which may affect bond of sealant. Remove incompatible materials which affect bond by scraping, brushing, scrubbing, or sand blasting.

MOCKUP

General Requirements: Apply one seal on representative substrates onsite for each fire rating required at each type of wall, floor and roof construction. Confirm requirements of fire ratings.

Application shall be in accordance with Project requirements as to thickness and density to achieve fire rating.

Acceptance: Product and application shall be approved by governing authorities prior to continuing with the Work.

Approved mockup may remain as part of the completed Work.
