Dear Prospective UCLA Student:
On behalf of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, I want to welcome you to the 2008-2009academic school year at the University of California, Los Angeles. This year you will no doubt encounter new challenges and opportunities that will help to shape your college experience and lead to future success in life. The opportunity to become a Re-Founding Father of Phi Delta Theta at UCLA is one of these experiences.
Phi Delta Theta believes that college men should be recognized for their success and for their desire to achieve. In fact, for more than 160 years, we have asked many students the question, Are You a Leader? This year we look forward to recruiting Founding Fathers to rebuild our Indiana Gamma chapter of Phi Delta Theta by establishing strong relationships and offering leadership opportunities for personal development. For many of our members, these skills have transferred to professional life. You have probably heard of some of them . . . Former President of the United States Benjamin Harrison, First Man on the Moon Neil Armstrong, Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig, Founder of Marriott Hotels J. Willard Marriott, World-Renown Architect Frank Lloyd Wright, and Famous Movie Star Burt Reynolds, to name a few.
In hopes of providing these same opportunities at UCLA, Phi Delta Theta will be awarding its Pallas Scholarship to four Re-Founding Fathers; fourbook scholarships totaling $1,000 (4-$250), for non-Greek male students atUCLA. We seek men who demonstrate devotion to academic achievement and a commitment to making both the university and community better places to live. Most importantly, we seek men who desire to develop skills that will help them become successful in college, but will also carry over to their professional and personal lives.
If you are interested in the scholarships, I would encourage you to complete the online application at (Look for the UCLA Link) The deadline for applications is October 16, 2009. We will then follow up with you to set up a time to meet and discuss your application. By applying for the scholarships, you are not committing yourself to membership in Phi Delta Theta or any other organization; rather, you are merely affirming your desire to strive for excellence. For many men, the Phi Delt experience has been a catalyst for success.
If you should have any questions, please contact me at . I look forward to receiving your application and meeting you this semester.
Sincerely,
Dustin B. Struble
