General Description:
The MyPod is a portable media player similar to other digital music players. It is a small electronic device for playing and storing digital audio files. The MyPod will look like a small thin tablet (smaller than a deck of cards) with the front side divided into two parts, a 2.2-inch monochrome screen and a “touch wheel" controller. It will have a capacity of 5 GB (USB-like) solid-state drive that can store 1,000 songs.
What it does:
The MyPod will basically store music to be played on the go. The user first gets songs onto her computer from a CD or an online music store or a file sharing system, then she connects the MyPod to the computer, either through FireWire or USB port, she transfers the music to the MyPod then she's ready to go.
How it works:
This will be possible through a specifically designed software and a compatible hardware. The screen will be context aware; under the main menu, the user can see the list of all her playlists, either by album title or by artist name. Once she chooses a playlist, she will see the list of all the songs/music tracks, with the name of the track. If she chooses a specific track to play, the screen will show details about the music track being played (duration, artist name and album name).
Design:
The lower half of the MyPod is the touch wheel, which is basically a centrally-placed circular disk designed for one-hand operation that will allow the user to play and pause, go forward and backward in the track, skip to the next or the previous track, and navigate back to the previous menu. The MyPod will support most audio file formats including MP3, WAV, and AAC.
